What a GEM! Friendly attentive staff! Great food - the Moroccan lamb tagine is out of this world! Would definitely recommend friends and family. See less

Although I had booked days in advance, there was no table for us when we arrived. Got pushed to a table too small for our group which caused a full plate to fall on the floor. It wasn't replaced. Food is very average (melted cheese on bread is not an entree) and portions are very small for the price (my son needed to have a sandwich one hour after we left the place). Won't come back even though location is nice. See less

I have visited this delightful little, somewhat rustic, cafe at Queenscliff a few times. It is at the top of the heart attack stairs on either side - you either walk up from Queenscliff or Freshwater - either staircase is murder haha. Most times I am passing Angel I am trying to breathe and my face is usually bright red covered in sweat haha. I often long to be inside with a nice glass of wine eating some delectable morsels as opposed to trying to be healthy - but I am totally babbling........ The venue is fantastic, the staff are decent and not overly involved in your table. My last visit - where these pics came from was for a birthday party group - our group booked out the back, covered, deck. It has fantastic views over Fairlight and is incredibly light and bright - it is an epic place to to kick back, catch up with mates, drink some beverages and feast. And feast we did. The 6 hour braised wagyu beef cheek wontons in a Singapore laksa broth with kaffir lime leaves was the birthday girl's favourite dish and the only dish she orders when she visits - she orders this entree in a main serving. I enjoyed the sauteed lemon pepper prawn cutlets on zucchini noodle pancakes with lemonaise & vinegar caramel for my entree and would happily indulge again. It could do with more of the lemon pepper - but this is my personal taste, I would make the dish with lemon myrtle - but it's not my dish to make :). As for mains me and my table mate shared two mains to taste a better coverage. My beef striploin with balsamic red cabbage, chive mash & cabernet jus was deeeeeelish and cooked perfectly but the grilled john dory with caponata, sicilian olive tapenade & hommus didn't really work flavour-wise for either of us. And as for dessert - I loved loved loved the coconut, mango and lime pannacotta. They do breakfast lunch and dinner on most days and the most expensive meal is $32- so the place is quite affordable. The only downside is they are fully licensed - no BYO. See less

The location is great. Real cool breeze with some nice views. The table service was good. Only had drinks and chips, but both were good. See less

Amazing restaurant tucked away above Freshwater beach. Fantastic food and great service. I come back each time especially for 6 hour braised wagyu beef cheek wontons in a singapore laksa broth. See less

We went to Angel a lot during the last years and it has gotten worse and worse. Bad and slow service, wrong orders, bad and overpriced food ($27 for a salad w/o anything but leafs?). Unfriendly towards families (didnt allow us to take the pram inside). Do not go there See less

We went on a very quiet Friday evening and enjoyed the degustation menu with matched wines. Whilst the food was very nice and wine good quality, I did feel it was expensive for the small portions of both. Service was great however and the location / view is fabulous. See less

This is a lovely local restaurant with good food. If your palate prefers half chicken roasts (not free range unfortunately) then this is your joint. It's small, cute, relaxed and likable. The roast of the week deal with half chicken, plus veggies, plus a drink is a steal. Come here during day for the view looking down into manly and don't forget to request back room table. I came for dinner (I suspect it's forte is brekkie) and everyone enjoyed the gzoyas and their chickens. My striploin was a tad tough but then it did only cost 24aud. The bloke had the wattle kangaroo and this would be my recommendation. See less

Made a last minute booking here one Friday evening to take advantage of the $38 three course meal deal. The staff were very bubbly and friendly, but not the fastest. Whilst we had one of the few remaining tables at the front of the restaurant, which is fairly quiet and intimate despite being right next to the kitchen and main counter, the restaurant was fully booked out on the rear patio. The food great. The Beef Cheek Wonton Soup for start was very tasty. A spicy soup with three or four wontons only, which was enough to satisfy. The lamb shoulder for main was again delicious with generous servings of meat and silky mash. The choice for desert was a difficult one with so many tempting options. In the end plumped for the Panacotta. Despite having some desert envy, I have no complaints. Had a nice bottle of Rose to accompany the meal and finished off with a Baileys coffee. Great evening, would go back again for a bit more of special evening/finer dining experience. See less

A large group of us dined here and had the 6 course degustation. The food was delicious, and at under $100 was quite reasonable. Service was a little slow, but staff were friendly. Great if you can get a table on the undercover decked area to take in the views! Definitely a must try. See less

I love this little nook of a place... has a nice clean relaxing feel with artwork around the walls to look at. Food is great. I have never been lucky enough to get a table overlooking the water though which is a shame as it is a great spot. Nice for a more formal night out, without breaking the budget. See less

In a party of 10, service very slow and uncaring... Price was 5 star, food was unexceptional and as it was dark we couldn't enjoy the view. Probably not the best choice for our purposes. See less

This little restaurant, perched on the hill between Queenscliff and Freshwater Beach, is a hidden gem! I went there with a group of 8 friends, and we all rated it extremely highly. As all the dishes looked delicious, we ordered a few entrees and shared them, along with a few different wines to sample. The beef cheek wontons were amazing, and the effort required to divide the pork belly into 8 was definitely worthwhile! The waiter had good wine knowledge and the recommended Jed Malbec & Fox Gordon Cabernet Tempranillo were great choices. I had the kangaroo, which was cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared a couple of the tasting plates and all left wanting more - especially the sticky date cake. Portion sizes were just right, and although quite expensive, was definitely worth it. Service was quite slow despite the restaurant not being full, however as we were in no rush it didn't matter. We were the last to leave by at least half an hour, but didn't feel any pressure to leave. Parking is on the surrounding suburban streets, so it's just luck as to how close you'll get to the restuarant. See less
