Authentic Indonesian dish that will shake any spice lovers' will. Don't even ask how spicy it is. If they say it's spicy, you better believe it's spicy. See less

This is my third time visiting south Melbourne branch. Food always delish, but unfortunately, service were always rude. The first and second time i went there, staff was rude and cynical. We were so nice to them. And when we sat down, tables and chair was dirty, and they dont even bother to cleaned them. Today when we were there, we try to be as nice as we can to the guy whom served us, we're even spoke in our language to be friendly, but he was total rude. Enough is enough. Next time, i wont bother to dine in or visit. But once again, food was amazing. See less

Air Banding is aidan flavour, not sure if you like them, try them anyway. See less

Loved the food, let me warn you not to try the chilli on its own. It is surely spicy and will bring the sweat out of you. Food is amazing. Best thing is the robot that serves you the food and bring it to your table. Good experience. See less

Instagram: @ediblemelbourne WE WILL BE RETURNING REGULARLY We rocked up here at opening, around 11.30 am and we sat right next to the window seat facing Clarendon Street - best seat in the house. We were given menus promptly and were advised to order at the counter. We did so and quickly saw the Robot Waiter bringing our order - such a cool little experience - definitely added to a fun experience. We ordered Ayam Geprek (Crispy Chicken Chop), Ayam Penyet (Smashed Chicken), Sate Madura (Charcoal Grilled Satay Chicken Skewers), Iga Bakar (Grilled Beef Ribs). We absolutely loved the Ayam Penyet and it was accompanied with a generous side of sambal - I think these guys will easily take the award for the spiciest sambal in menu - and it is delicious. Do order the satay chicken as a side, it is a great little add on and so delicious - even used a spoon to scoop out all the yummy satay from the plate. The crispy chicken chop was super crunchy and fresh, with some fresh salad on the side that makes you want to keep going back for more. We finished our experience with some sweets - the coconut and palm sugar rolls are to die for - could order so many of those and keep eating them. The creams puffs are so good as well. Just the best little bites. Service is super friendly and unpretentious. We cannot wait to return to try so much more. Did we mention that they have other stores in Preston, Dandenong and Noble Park? One of the most authentic indonesian food in melbourne. Meat was well cooked and their sambal was amazing, very spicy just as it should be. Batagor was a bit chewier than expected, but still pretty good. Great portion and price. Definitely a recommended place to eat. See less

๐Ÿ : @ria_melb ๐Ÿ“: South Melbourne ๐Ÿ“: Always down for Indonesian food. Back to Ayam Penyet RIA once again and never let down by their food. โค๏ธ: First thing I had to get no matter what was, of course, Gado Gado. Such a generous portion size with delicious peanut sauce. Also loved Rawon as well, an Indonesian beef soup with black keluak nut. See less

We dine here regularly and always come back for their Ayam Bakar. Their snack range is quite impressive, and this is coming from an Australian who was born and raised in Indonesia! This place is definitely a decent place to satisfy your cravings for authentic Indonesian food. See less

An Indonesian restaurant serving Javanese " Penyet" (smashed) dishes. The slow cooked beef ribs is the outstanding dish for me - the beef ribs is smoky and tender. Despite its name - the bebek penyet (smashed duck) comes whole in one piece - its crispy but a little dry - so, not too sure how being smashed adds anything to the flavor of the dish. Actually the whole dish is somewhat dry - tofu, tempeh, fried bits, bebek - which is saved by the fiery sambal condiment. Note that the menu prices does not include rice, which is extra. The Gado Gado, advertised as a fruit salad is a misnomer and the version here disappoints - it is a salad dish of potatoes, eggs, bits of vegetables dressed in a weak, wet "peanuty" sauce, buried under a mountain of crackers. I've never tried this dish before and it was the first item from the list from the display menu outside the restaurant. I ordered the Ayam Penyet. Wow really nice! But if you can't have spicy then you probably need to order something else. The sambal was super spicy! Although when I mixed everything together it the spiciness wasn't was strong by itself. There was enough rice and other ingredients to mix with so you get the sambal taste on a much smaller scale. The fried chicken was so nice. Crispy chicken, you can't go wrong! See less

Hands down the best indonesian noodle, bakmi, chicken noodle, whatever you want to call it. It is chewy, tasty, and so umami! Will come back for sure! Just a reminder, it seems like they don't serve it on weekend See less
