Someone once said that “there’s no place like home”, but that’s a complete myth when you indulge at Bac 8.
The three dishes + rice meal is a steal. It’s practically illegal to pay $11 and walk away with enough food to put you in a food coma. A complete robbery.
For my dish, I picked the braised fish, slow cooked pork belly and sour soup. The flavour of the braised fish is perhaps the best I’ve ever had. The caramelisation of the sauce, coupled with the succulent fish is something to beg for. You then chase that food down with the soup and that’s when it hits you - you’re actually in Vietnam.
The look and feel of the restaurant pulsates the Vietnam food market vibe. Paired with this vibe is the sacred text, known as the Bac 8 menu. A menu so vast that puts the Pacific Ocean to shame. Truly one of the great wonders of the world how a restaurant so small, can churn out delectable foods at whim.
All in all, a wonderful experience that would satisfy any hungry hippo. See less
