After been recommended by a friend I decided to give it a go. I ordered Mantu (LambDumplings), orange flavoured rice and Lamb Kurooti and Orange Pallow Rice. All three were delicious beautiful blend of spices, juicy meat and the dumplings were delicious 🤤 This was my first time to try Afghani food and I’m intrigued to try more and I will dine in next time for a full experience😉. Just one side note the portion of Lamb Kurooti was small. See less

First time trying Afghan cuisine and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The good: This particular night seemed quite busy but staff were attentive and polite. The atmosphere was great. The food was flavourful while not as spice as I was expecting but again being the first time trying the cuisine it is like I had unrealistic expectations. Not so good: Parking was hard to find & similar cuisines (Pakistani or indian) seem slightly cheaper. Overall I would recommend visiting if you have not tried Afghan cuisine before I would like to try a few more things on the menu so will definitely be returning 🙂 See less

Good service, warm vibe, and almost no phone signal inside. We ordered Lamb Kabuli, Chicken Kabuli, and mix satay for iftar. It was so good! Rich amount of spices, juicy meat, and decent portion size for 5 adults. Definitely will come back. See less

I wish i could give more than 5 stars! The place was super busy which made our food delayed a bit but whatever we received was worth the wait for! The customer service is excellent. Everybody was super friendly and welcoming. The food was over the top! Super fresh and packed with amazing hearty flavours. I would definitely recommend this place and cannot wait to visit again.🥰 See less

The food was absolutely brilliant - 5/5 but the customer service was seriously terrible. It was definitely some of the worst customer service - lady who initially served us was quite rude. We were rushed out early even though we were told a time initially by the same older manager I think. Food was super great but we really wouldn’t come back as that customer service was a disaster. Giving it a 4/5 due to the food but service was horrific. See less

Initially the restaurant was surprisingly busy- but then we tasted the food. The dumplings were amazing, and every bite we ate was incredible. The staff were friendly and made our dining experience go smoothly. We'll be back!!! See less

My family and I tried Bamiyan for the first time last week and it was absolutely delicious. The mixed grill was so tasty and juicy and the portions were quite large. The prices are a bit expensive, and the waitress was a bit rude, but other than that, very tasty food. See less

Food tasted absolutely amazing. Portions where on the average to smaller size for the price. Restaurant was comfortable and nice. Waiter and service was ok. A little lacklustre overall. But the food made up for it. Food came out in good time. Did feel a little ripped off, as the large lunch special sign outside that brought us into the restaurant in the first place, had the “Afghan testy plate” for $22 . Sadly when we ordered and I asked for this lunch special , the waiter bluntly said lunch specials are only Monday to Friday. Which wasn’t stated on ANY(I check afterwards aswell) of the outside signs, and definitely not on the lunch special sign itself. So I paid almost $35ea which was more than I was planning on/expected. Again, amazing food, but hesitant to go back in future due to the disparity in posted price as mentioned above. See less

We had a wonderful meal; food was rich and tasty. Only criticism was that the acoustics were very poor; thr noise made it very difficult to hold a conversation. The staff were efficient without being overly welcoming however the service was attentive and the dishes hot and delicious. Wouid come again! See less

Nice restaurant for the family, a little pricy but it’s probably be because of the restaurant location and it’s the only Afghan restaurant in Canberra so no competition.Considering we are from Adelaide and expectations were very high - here is my score We ordered, Chicken Karahi (7/10) - Karahi was ok. Afgha pulao (5/10 - wasn’t as good as we normally have in Adelaide Afghan restaurants) Grilled (9/10) - very yummy Nan (8/10 - $5 for just a nan) 3 stars are based on price, and we were expecting a very yummy Afghan Pulao. Highly recommend Bamiyan for anyone looking for a good, honest, hearty Afghan feed. Service was great and the waiter really helped us order a good meal! My only complaint is that they cleared the plates away too quickly and made us feel a bit rushed. Highly recommend ordering the eggplant curry and dumplings but all dishes were rich, generously portioned and delicious so you really can't make any bad choices here. See less

Thank you so much for fitting 16 of us in a day out from mother's days. We all really enjoyed the meal. Food was flavourful and tasty. Love garlic naan and butter chicken, and the Mantu dumpling was really good! Haven't been a fan of mango lassi before, but this one had lots of mango flavour & was yum! (Sorry forgot to take a photo). So full, we didn't get a chance to try dessert, so would definitely come back. See less
