I honestly think this is the worst tasting restaurant I’ve been to for a while. I emailed feedback re their vegan food as I thought it was bland, and very very ordinary. Didn’t hear back. Tiramisu was grainy. If you are vegan or want to impress non vegans, do t go here. Too many other great places to choose from. Also, why can’t they use vegan cheese? See less

Food was incredible. Every dish was delicious, complex and delightful in flavour and beautifully presented. Highly recommend the pumpkin dish, the cauliflower dish and the fig dessert (which was divine). Whoever created this menu is a genius with pairing flavours. The service was incredible, the staff friendly and helpful. Also the food came out so quickly, given the quality of the dishes this was yet another other stand out. Thanks for a wonderful evening! Superb vegetarian food, excellent barman and good wine list. All good…… except non-stop doof-doof music. So out of character with clientele and venue. Politely asked them to turn down the volume. No reduction. Then bill arrived with wine bottle overcharged by $40. On query, told they’d mistaken two similar wines and their error. Was fixed immediately, but we shouldn’t have to find errors like this. See less

ORDERED: Sputini 🧆 Arancino di Funghi: mushrooms, vegan brie on homemade truffle vegan mayo ($16.00) 🌾 Polenta in Terracotta: polenta with char grilled brussell sprouts, baked vegan cheese & thyme ($16.00) Pasta 🍞 Lasagna @ Bio: Spinach pasta sheets with bechamel & lentil ragu ($28.00) 🧆 Gnudi di ricotta e zucca: buffalo ricotta & pumpkin balls with toasted pine nuts butter & black olive powder ($32.00) Contorni 🥦 Cavolfiore: oven baked cauliflower, burnt butter, raisins & tarragon ($7.00) REVIEW: Please note, I dined here last in April '21 so the menu items may be a little out dated since COVID! Considering Bio by DOC is a spawn off the popular D.O.C. chain, we were shocked there was no pizza option at all. Instead, Bio takes a spin on modernising Italian dishes. My favourite and the most memorable was the Cavolfiore - the pine nuts were an excellent way to add some nutty taste and crunchy texture. Otherwise, the rest of the dishes were decent. Some of the dishes benefitted with more seasoning, but overall it was just pleasant. Bio is also a great place for friends who have dietary requirements. Especially for friends who can't eat garlic and onion - the food incredibly accessible! See less

If you are GF and Vegan and never tried this place u have never tried Gf Vegan. Let me tell you, it's the best you can get. This is the ultimate stop, the diamond in the rough, a must try for vegans for gf and for ppl that have none of those dietary requirements. You sit down in a relaxed environment and get this delicious food accompanied with great cocktails and a wine list that is to die for. See less

Amazing concept that was very exciting as a vego. I love DOC’s OG restaurant so was very eager to try BIO. The tasting menu wasn’t running due to being the first weekend post lockdown which was understandable. Nice venue and service. The standout was the pumpkin tart esque thing, and the lasagne. Everything else was just ok. It was as if everything need a bit of sharpness or punch that was missing. I wouldn’t return based on this, unfortunate given the potential. See less

We sat yesterday on Friday night (post lockdown), a group of 8 ppl for a dinner with a set menu. We paid $70 per person, which is not cheap. The food was absolutely horrible! Any restaurant in their right mind would be embarrassed to serve this food. We ate some of it and we haven’t touched some dishes. No one asked if the food was tasteful. It was the worst experience we had in a restaurant in Melbourne. See less

We decided to try this restaurant for their gluten free menu. We all thought the dishes were bland and over priced. I ordered the gnocchi with artichoke truffle and received a bowl of weird textured mini pasta shells with a broccoli truffle which I didn't enjoy. See less

Not sure why they use greek words to name an Italian restaurant but still the food was very good. Well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only weird thing for me was them telling us everything in the dish when they brought the food out. Will be going back because good plant based Italian cuisine is hard to find. See less

If you’re looking for good vegan Italian food, then this is the place to go! I had the vegan gnocchi and arancino balls, which were both delicious. The outdoor seating is actually quite nice, even in the middle of winter, as it’s out the back and has plenty of heating. See less

Okay, the booze was great, and the service started off finely. As soon as orders had been taken, though, all interest in us was lost. It seems like the chef has a gun to his head to cook vegan/vegetarian food. Gnocchi in a mud sauce, soggy cauliflower, mushy and gluey lasagna. The nail in the coffin was having to sit in front of our dirty plates for half an hour. As vegetarians, we loved the concept, but for the price, there needs to be more love in it, people! See less

We walked in and, Vegan!!! Was going to walk out. But we stayed. So glad that we did. The food is exceptional. This place does NOT serve lookalike meats. There is no pretence of bacon, chicken or beef. But! You will get real Italian dishes that are exceptionally delicious. Service? The staff were always checking that our needs were met. They all knew the menu and explained it well. The Italian Rose was so yummy that we had two bottles! All in all, great food, great wines, great staff! See less

Wonderful food with amazing tastes, there is no way you realize it’s gluten free. Well done Bio by Doc, you have nailed it ! Service excellent and all staff willing and wanting to please with passion. The local organic wines is a true congratulations to searching local products instead of overseas imports. For those that have given poor review such as Yo Yo, really and truly do not understand quality, time and effort taken to put this place together, better still don’t come back, more room and availability for the rest of us that truly appreciate quality snd good hard honest work See less
