After researching restaurants to go to for my 24th birthday (today 1st Dec) for days in advance, and after reading the numerous amazing reviews, my parents and I walked into Bondi Grille Coolangatta (yesterday 30th Nov) and asked to book a table. Our details were put down, we were promised a table, and that was that. 7:30pm arrived, we walked in and immediately saw that our table was not reserved. After speaking to the waitress, she called over another woman who told us that "I understand you were promised a table by our other waitress but we don't usually promise tables. You are happy to wait until a table is free to order". DISGUSTING! As it was 7:30pm, the other backup restaurants we had were already booked. We had already had a celebratory drink knowing we wouldn't have to drive and couldn't get a taxi that would get us somewhere before they closed at 8pm! I am devastated. My parents ended up setting up my cake in our hotel and made Turkish bread toastiest in the oven for dinner. This place is NOT a restaurant, it is a BAR! And a terribly run one at that. The worst thing is that they had my details and would have known they wouldn't be reserving my table. Why didnt they call and let me know, knowing it was for my birthday? Absolutely disgraceful! Will never be trying to go here again! See less
