One of the best burgers in Fyshwick, if not Canberra. Not massive, but awesome flavour and real beefy. Awesome seasoning on the chips also. Don't change the beef burger chef, you nailed it. See less

Very disappointing. We have been eating at this diner for the better part of two years. Their meals used to be not only really good but also good value for money. The steak sandwich was gourmet, super delicious and so big you had to eat it in sections. It was a full, proper meal with loads of salad and shoestring fries. I went today with the new owners in place. I'll start by saying the staff were very friendly and the service quick. I orderedthe steak sanga (as they call it) and while it was tasty it was just a small piece of steak on an average roll with some onion and relish. In hindsight I wouldn't pay more than $8 for it but it cost me $16. I ordered the salt and pepper squid for my husband. Also $16 for 3 small pieces of calamari and a bit of side salad. Yes - 3 pieces for $16. I've never seen such a ripoff. Lastly was the chicken ceasar wrap for $11. It was very average, very soggy and almost inedible wrap. See the photo below. We definitely won't be giving this a second go under the new owners I'm afraid unless there is a huge improvement in what they offer for the money they charge. See less

I'm a regular. The coffee is good if you like it strong which I do. Food is good café food. The staff are attentive and work well together. There's an occasional new starter who can make things less smooth. Mostly a great place to meet. See less

It's OK and I can see why it's called Box Diner - it was like being in one. Very little room to move and dark and dingy where we sat. Had the southern fried chicken burger with small fries on the side. The over cooking that was put in to the chicken should've been put to the fries. The chicken was bordering on dry and the fries were in need of an extra few seconds in the fryer. If I'm in the area I may call in again for something to eat but certainly wont go out of my way to eat there especially. See less

Open and ready to cook by 7am so its great if you have an early start. Wide range of menu options and sypathetic to those with dietary requirements. Bacon and coffee is delicious(need i say more?). Nice looking place and worth the extra few minutes drive. They also do catering which I have enjoyed over the last few days. 5 stars. See less
