Nice food and romantic ambience but extremely slow service from taking orders to bringing the food. Our kids just about fell asleep at the table. No kids menu too. I realise it's more of a romantic dinner type restaurant for couples and adults but they should be more flexible, why can't kids dine and have more choices at a French restaurant, why should families be stuck with Ostani every night? The wait was ridiculous. Been here before with my husband absolutely lived it though before. See less

Staff behaved as if we were hillbillies on a city trip, overheard very rude comments but the food was fairly good - oysters were fantastic, scallops were way too salty, burrata was great, and brodetto was average - 2 mussels, 2 pieces of squid, 1 piece of octopus and a piece of cod (though the cod and sauce were great). A cute place for high tea located within Hotel Realm. Buvette offers a set menu. The food is brought out in stands and there’s a piece of each item allocated to each person. The stand has a selection of savoury and sweet items and you can order anything off their tea and coffee menu. Overall pretty good but I personally prefer the Hyatt’s high tea for the wider selection of food. See less

Great coffees, but food average. Breakfast bowl, tofu was hard and dry. Tomatoes hard and too much to fill up bowl. Beans hard and not good flavour. Burned toast of salmon/poached eggs. Lots of staff but not quick to take orders. See less

This restaurant was the highlight of our trip. I can't rate this high enough. The service was top notch, and everyone made us feel so welcome. There was a small mix up with our reservation, but they got us a great table on Saturday night. The venue is classic and beautifully done. But the food was the knockout. So much flavour, and beautifully presented. We left very happy and merry! Would highly recommend. See less

Walked in on Saturday night without booking. Asked to wait while they checked and 5 mins later got the table. Service was initially good and quick but progressive slowing down towards the night - probably understaffed. This is because finished plates weren’t cleaned on time, wine wasn’t refilled or being asked if I would like to order new drinks. Ordered beef tartare (and liver pate, but this never arrived/made it to the order - waitress might’ve misheard), beef ribs bourguignon, steak and bitter chocolate fondant. Beef tartare was average and would perhaps order something else, texture of the beef was nice but lack of flavour. Egg yolk was on a runnier side (watery). Beef ribs bourguignon was not quite bourguignon (not a stew) but beef ribs were tender and nice flavour. The beef ribs comes with 3 pieces of snails/escargot. The escargot weren’t the best - tasted a bit sandy/muddy. Based on this, I wouldn’t recommend the snails too. Steak was okay too - cafe de Paris on top of the steak was too thick and too cold so it doesn’t melt enough. Meat however was cooked perfectly and enough size. Dessert probably one of the best - goat ice cream was a delight with berries to cut through the richness of the dessert. Wine is on a steeper side but extensive list to suits everyone. See less

Nice and cosy atmosphere. Service is attentive. The presentation of the food looks good. Somehow undercooked my lamb but was replaced with good attitude. Also got compensated with free dessert. Overall good experience. See less

Buvette bistro & wine bar (located inside Hotel Realm, Barton), is easily one of my favourite restaurant options in Canberra. The French cuisine on offer is sensational-each dish executed well, showcasing the culinary skills of the kitchen team, headed by Fabien & Jun. The fit out is great-Buvette oozes class and sophistication. Couple this this with exceptional customer service (in particular from Maria, Steve & Lewis) and you have the perfect space to celebrate special occasions-the whole team leave a lasting impression. On to the food-the beef tartare, tuna nicoise salad & chicken liver parfait are my go to dishes, however, I also love the pan fried salmon and wagyu beef. The food is that good, you’ll want to try the whole menu. I highly recommend this establishment; it’s a culinary delight! See less
