You can feel the love in the food. The two sisters are a gem. Always feel so taken care of. Vegetarian combo platter was more like a bottomless buffet, keep bringing out more food make sure we can't walk after 😂 The food is light and tasty fresh. Must try their Ethiopian coffee, traditionally made. See less

I ate here with friends for our first meal out after lockdown and we had such a beautiful night! As the business is very new (unfortunately just opened right before the pandemic hit) it is not busy ...yet! So thankfully for us, we spent half the evening having wonderful and insightful conversations with Leah about Ethiopia and its culture, her life, music (I actually had my bass with me and told her that I'll come and play some music one day), ingredients, all sorts of things. She (and her sister) are such lovely, peaceful ladies, always smiling and also didn't even charge us for the coffee (which was also a beautiful experience the way they did presented it to us). I LOVE the artwork on the walls also - it was all painted by a Melbourne-based Eritrean artist and portrays the culture and landscapes of Eastern Africa. Finally - the food was incredible and the prices are so reasonable! I can't wait to go back :) See less

This is ultimately the best Ethiopian restaurant around and trust me have been to many. Its owned by two lovely ladies that care deeply about the quality of food and service they provide to customers. I won't go anywhere else. I know they use to run Addis Ababa but have now recently started their own restaurant so if you liked Addis Ababa then please find these two ladies at East African kitchen. Love love the food... (This is the new home of your favourite chefs from Addis Abeba, 220 Nicholson St) Lea and Amy make the most incredible vegan dishes - flavoursome and very affordable. They provide amazing service, delicious food (including home made injera) and are open for takeaways now, so go and support them in their new home and enjoy their fantastic cooking! See less
