Yummy Italian food. We ordered the Scallop & Prawn 🦐 ravioli and the Aglio e olio. The Scallop & Prawn ravioli was interesting. The ravioli was thin and you could see a bit of the prawn, though after a while you wouldn't be able to tell what's inside. Very well presented dish. There was a total of 8 raviolis which was a reasonable portion size. It's a little on the salty side, but not too salty that you would stop eating. Rating: 7/10 The Agio e olio was a let down. It was not the most flavourful, the best part of it was the parmesan topping. This dish lacked complexity in flavour. Rating: 3/10 Overall, Food: 7/10 Ambience: 7/10. It's good for large groups. Staff are very friendly, this is a place I will return. See less

It has been a while since visiting Chez Frederic. The restaurant itself is unchanged and has a nice clean decor with ornamental plants on and around tables. The food flavours is good, but I have some lack of knowledge of French Pasta. Previously the portions were very generous, which was good for our big appetites. They are now a reasonable size but it could disappoint some of the previous customers who expect a large serving. I plan to go back and try the lamb shanks next time. See less

Covid update: went back on 22 August. Marinara pasta still awesome, the cheese bread was not as good and the carbonara had suffered as well. Still a 5 star rating given the marinara pasta, great wines and service. This was our second trip to chez Frederic. We love the four cheese bread, the seafood marinara pasta and the temparinallo wine. The lasagne was very hearty and the carbonara is sublime, but nothing compares to the generosity, freshness and great (spicy) flavours of the marinara. Chez Frederic has a very beautiful aesthetic but is also just a little bit overrated and sometimes the design slightly forgoes practicality. The plants planted in the table are great tho. The food is fine although the difference in portion sizes between meals is crazy, for example, pictured is my ravioli which was a little less than normal sized, and my sister ordered carbonara spaghetti and her plate was filled and she ate a lot and then took an entirely filled large takeaway container home as well. My ravioli tasted handmade which was very nice but it was just sliightly less than al dente. I chose the creamy mushroom and pink sauce which was an accident that was entirely my fault because I thought the menu was listing napolitana, creamy mushroom, and pink sauce as the options but it was napolitana, creamy mushroom and pink sauce. I also thoroughly enjoyed the bread part of the jalapeño bread but the jalapeño spread was too spicy so I just ate the bottom of the bread :( See less

This is a uni student hangout, where the kids come to get some home cooked meals. I thought it was OK nice large serves, reasonably priced, but the decor and the service was a little bit ordinary. I guess if I was going to university and lived away from home, I would give this five stars. See less

The team at Chez are great, pasta is pasta, but pasta done well is hard to fine and these guys gleefully manage to exceed my expectations. Lots of variety and take home packs provided when you cant fit it all in! There's also some limited wine and beer options, although its enough of a selection to pair up with your meal. See less

The four stars is solely for the quality of the pasta. I had spinach and ricotta ravioli with Napolitano sauce. I think this is the best ravioli I've ever had. The ravioli pieces are large and filled mostly with spinach and a sprinkling of fine ricotta, which is a welcome change from the typically cheesy ravioli I've had elsewhere. I deducted one star because the service was painfully slow. Twenty minutes for pasta, take away! They seemed understaffed and rushed off their feet. Basic upkeep seemed lacking, see photo of half empty drinks fridge. If you don't want to wait, there's bain marie food, though it looked unappealing. See less
