So happy we found this place in Portland. The food was amazing, well priced, and generous in their serving sizes. Staff were super friendly, professional, and knowledgeable of the local area. Thanks for the local cafe, coffee, and sights-to-see tips. A great end to our first day. See less

Congratulations on this. What a wonderful surprise it was to find such a gem in Portland. Staff was friendly, educated and informed. The wine list is generous and well balanced, with some wines only to be chosen by someone who really cares. The 3 course menu is fairly priced, and although I chose fish, I saw a couple of meat options being served looking fantastic. Portions were on the bigger side of things, with some guests struggling to eat the main after a generous entry. Not to mention their faces when they saw the dessert. Congrats to the chef and kitchen staff as they pay attention to detail and you can see them looking around to make sure everyone is having a good time.You are doing a great job. Atmosphere is calm with acoustic music on. I paid $80 for the 3 course menu and a very nice glass of wine. Cheap when these days a burger and a craft beer cost you $50. I will always recommend it and I encourage them to keep up the good work! See less

Best dining in Town - do not miss it Travelled down from Melbourne and visited the restaurant last week. Was probably the best fish I have had in 30 years. It was cooked to perfection and the portion size was larger than expected, probably catering for the majority of the country folks! Clearly the chef is an absolute pro which who is backed up with excellent & friendly service staff and nothing was too much trouble, plus the prices are reasonable. Looking over some of the reviews, giving them a 4/5 is not fair, this is fine dining in an Aussie country setting and it doesn't get any better than this. See less

Very disappointed. Limited wine list from a restaurant that purported to be high quality. Furthermore, the wines on the list were the wrong vintage or not available. Even worse, the wait staff didn’t know how to serve wine and brought the wrong wine to the table already opened. The food took a long time. The plates were designed to look like “cuisine” - small and fancy looking, but ended up being not enough. It seemed they were making an effort to be cheap but charging cuisine prices. We wanted to share the starters and the quantities were so tiny we couldn’t split them. When we commented on this the male waiter responded rudely. The abalone starter was a tiny shell, tasted of nothing except Kilpatrick saltiness, with a thin rubbery texture. My duck confit was just the one very small leg, no thigh or other meat, it was merely acceptable in taste. The eggplant side was again small, and way too salty. The duck fat potatoes side were bland. The salmon dish described greens on the menu that consisted of three small wilted leaves. All in all, this place was not value for money. We should have gone to the pub for a counter meal. See less

Breathtakingly good food. The head chef (who is also the owner) is incredibly talented and his food pairings never miss. This is not the sort of restaurant you would expect to find in a regional country town, it would be booked out weeks in advance if it were in Melbourne or Sydney. I have dined here more times than I can recall and the consistency and quality are faultless. If you come to Portland don't dine here you are truly missing out. See less

A beautiful restaurant, very cozy! The waitresses were wonderful. We had the mushroom risotto and the salmon for our entrees, the linguini and the chicken for our mains, and the pana cotta and brownie for dessert - highly recommend all of them. See less

Good location and the food was great!! The wait staff weren’t overly attentive, I had to ask them to move our entree dishes and finished drinks, even then, they did not take it all. Waiter didn’t really know the menu that well. Drinks add up when basic spirits cost $8 and you have to pay $2.50 for the mixer. See less
