Had an excellent birthday high tea here on a Wednesday. Every morsel was distinctly tasty and I was offered the best mocktail I think I have ever had which was the mojito. Service was amazing all the way through. We were offered a second plate of sandwiches which made it perfect for lunch. Lovely grounds, easy parking, and the ambiance was great for a celebration. I'd love to come back and explore the grounds when it's a bit less wet from this unseasonable rain. See less

We had a wonderful time at high tea today. The food was great and the service very good. Extra sandwiches can be ordered with no extra cost. The scones were done to perfection and the home made jam was lovely. Highly recommended for a weekend afternoon. For the calorie conscious, you can walk off the intake by walking from Rose Bay to the venue and onward to Watson’s Bay for the return ferry trip to Circular Quay at the end. See less

I had high expectations about my trip to Vaucluse House - however was left extremely disappointed. Did not receive items that were listed in original booking. And was served different drinks than what was paid for. Had a high tea booking and was left feeling quite hungry as the portions were either one or two bite sized. Sandwiches were underseasoned and Caramel on the eclairs was burnt. The Scones were dry and stale and jam was runny and cream split. I asked for chai as my tea option, which was just warm water and milk. Definitely not value for money, considering I went home and made my own Scones and chai to satisfy my cravings. See less

1st time to give 1 star rate: the staff never smile and so cool. the chairs are like those in food court - you dont have space to put your bag even at the back of the chairs. the tea cups are dirty with dark brown colour of tea marks around the cup, when we asked for a cleaned one, no "sorry" from her and with angry face, let's us feel guilty to do so. refused to borrow an umbrella for us to the carpark and lecture us" you should bring umbrella with you in this weather". the old lady bring 2 take away containers to us (we still eating) and let us feel bad - maybe we stay there too long time? :( the staff start to clean the table as soon as we asked for bill even we still drinking our tea. This Sunday high tea gathering was so bad because the rude and unprofessional catering in this restaurant - ALL staffs are not willing to provide services even they charge more expensive than most famous high tea venue. I feel sorry to the boss - if the boss do not aware of this, let people down and fail such beautiful surrounding. check it out the replies - they most likely only reply to the good ratings. See less

Place looks a little run down. Out dated decor, outdated somewhat run down toilets, wall tiles dirty also looks like some diy in areas of the wall tiles, hand paper towels on floor as bin overflows with paper (should be monitored). Waiting young staff were very nice though. Overgrown lawns in some parts, outdoor garden setting the seating area dirty, grass over grown around sign in front of the entry. Definitely our group were surprised we were expecting more out of this place for it's location.. See less

What a gorgeous venue. So pretty and intimate. I was also impressed by the variety and selection of savory and sweet food options for the high tea. My only feedback is that the overall warmth of welcome on arrival was lacking, and there was a general feeling of inconvenience and as though we were being rushed out. When you pay over 800 dollars for an afternoon tea you expect a little bit of service to come along with it. I think things could easily be improved with some minor tweaks in how the staff approach their customers, starting with the manager on duty. Better luck next time but thank you for hosting us in a lovely venue. See less

Absolutely amazing, highly recommended! The snapper dish is cooked to perfection. The chicken is very tender and juicy. At the same time, they provided outstanding service, which made my dining experience very memorable. See less

We had a lovely afternoon tea here on a busy Saturday afternoon. The main room was very busy and quite loud so luckily we were seated in the smaller room in the front with tables no bigger than 4. The tea stand itself was good with a delicious selection of savoury offerings to balance out the sweet. Compared to some other afternoon teas, the tea selection itself was a bit limited but we loved how the scones were served warm with tea after the savouries had been eaten. The highlight of the whole experience though, was our delightful server Eva who despite being ridiculously busy, made time to ensure that all our needs were met. It's been a very long time since I've received such good customer service. Thank you, Eva! See less

Arriving for a special birthday lunch on Sunday 28th, we discovered the owners had accepted a booking for 40 people - 20 adults on one table, 20 children on the other table; completely unsupervised. This really ruined the experience. We heard other neighbouring tables complain and leave early as well. After arriving, we were met by someone that couldn't be bothered with the basic requirements of making someone feel welcome. Matre d' training includes warmth, i think. The waitress was lovely, apologizing immediately about how busy they were. The question i have is why? Was this the first Sunday lunch to occur? Did someone in management choose to accept a large booking, when it would disturb other diners and render the restaurant motionless. Surely there are contingency plans for when you're short on staff?! None of our food or drinks came out without prompting someone. The wine, listed as 2015, was a 2018 - but hidden on another table. When noone was refilling drinks - i got the bottle myself and discovered this. Are you selling new wine as a more expensive vintage? I raised this with the waitress, and was met with a "whoops". The pazanella salad with the chicken was hilariously bad - just some rocket and ripped up bread (picture to be added). I don't think i would go back, as it seems the owners are more interested in overbooking their restaurant and overworking their limited staff. See less

Beautiful space and so airy and well lit. The food wasn't too bad however it was made clear in our booking that there was vegetarian and gluten free dietary requirements. The vegetarian requirement was missed and there was sass from the waiter as to why this had happened. We had clearly confirmed it and had called several days earlier to ensure it was not missed. Scones were served and again it was missed that one of our guests required a gluten free version. A bit disappointed overall with the experience. See less

Just had one of the best lunches I have ever had in the East. The restaurant at Vaucluse house has always had a great location and atmosphere but average food and service! Not any more! The service was 5 star and the food extraordinary. We had the scallops to start, crab linguine for mains and a semi freddo for sweets - all fantastic! The coffee was good too. It was a hot day but sitting under the umbrellas was very comfortable! Will definitely go back! See less

i love the freshly baked scone so much😍😍really tasty, but there’s one thing that made us lol, we asked the waitress to bring us a straw, when she offered the straw and we were shocked, it was a tooooo short straw that you can hardly put it into the glass. See less

Good service. Relaxed atmosphere. Personally, I would recommend the that if you’re a couple, one might get the Devonshire Tea $18pp (Scones and Coffee/Tea) and another, a different meal so you’ll have variety. Good place to have a date. Then, explore Vaucluse House (separate $12pp). See less

I visited Vaucluse House Tearooms today with four of my friends and we had a really pleasant afternoon. We had pre-booked the high tea with requests for a vegan option and a pescatarian option for two of our party and Vaucluse House Tearooms were more than obliging and provided excellent substitutes. The high tea itself was of good quality and a reasonable price. I found the service decent and you have the added bonus of being able to walk the grounds and house before or after your sitting at the Tearooms. I would definitely recommend and revisit! See less
