I was watching a video about All'Antico Vinaio and wondering if I could find something similar in Melbourne. I was pleasantly surprised to find Italiana Delicatessen offering schiacciata sandwiches inspired by Antonio and Julia's visit to the same shop in Italy. We ordered the Italiano and the Parma, and both were fantastic! The bread was fresh and light, and the spreads and meats were flavourful. We also ordered the no-alcohol tiramisu, which was nicely balanced and had a good hit of base bitter notes. The overall atmosphere is warm and inviting, and definitely worth a visit! See less

This place in the heart of South Yarra is simply amazing. The owners of the place are very friendly and it is always a pleasure having a chat with them. The must try here are panini, made with fresh schiacciata and delicious Italian cheese & prosciutto or salame. After trying them you will never be able to go back to normal sandwiches I promise! And for dessert you must try cannoli with ricotta, they are divine, the best I have tried in Melbourne for sure. Strongly recommend this place! See less

So lucky to bump into this authentic place! Lots of Italian locals there and they speak highly of their food especially daily freshly made pasta!! One kind of pasta each day to ensure maximum quality 👌🏻 super tasty and fresh, soups are full of ingredients and flavour which is so good!! By far the most authentic Italian restaurant I’ve visited in Melbourne especially the warm hearted hospitality style. My go to place for pasta from now on. See less

Schiacciata sandwich made to my order, filled with prosciutto, provolone cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and strips of lightly marinated zucchini. The Schiacciata was gently oiled on top to soften it further for my delicate teeth. A generous serving which I will order again. Good coffee too. Must try the soups next visit. See less

So glad this great little authentic Italian deli has recently opened in South Yarra. Just stepping inside I'm made to feel so welcome, it's like a hug. Clean and cosy. Lovely fresh Italian style bread with meats at the back for panini made to order. Lots of dips, biscuits, oils and treats to choose from and coffee & sweets at the front. I highly recommend trying the amazing donuts. I'm never normally into donuts but ventured once for guests and these are seriously good!! The taste is quite different, made with a quality dough. I can also recommend the crispy cannoli, large or small, filled to order on the spot, try the ricotta for something fresh and light. Gorgeous little family business, getting busier by the day.
