My husband and I went to Jackpot Dining in Carindale for lunch today and found ourselves having our worst dining experience by far.
Food was average, service was terrible and, we felt that we were sitting in a hazard zone the entire time.
Food which we had ordered was Deep Fried Sweet Buns, Spicy Beef Brisket Hot Pot, Crispy Beef Strips In Peking Sauce, 2 bowls of rice and 2 drinks. None of it was worth the asking price.
- Sweet buns were $7 for 5 tiny buns.
- Crispy Beef In Peking Sauce was bland and my husband had described that the best of the food experience was the rice and the beer.
- Hot Pot was served with a portable fire stand served a purely decorative purpose, due to the fact the fire stopped burning almost immediately after the meal was served and left it barely warm.
- rice was $2 per bowl and the serving sizes were just half of standard rice bowls.
Service: The layout of the counter was very poor. The register is situated right next to the pathway of staff members bringing hot food out. My husband and I were lining up to order our meal and had staff members storming out from the kitchen with hot food and walking through the group of customers.
During the wait I had noticed that the staff was giving customers a cuttley stand during purchase and we hadn't been given one with our table number when we ordered. After we made our purchase and sat down, we didn't realise we didn't have cutlery until a staff member tossed the beef dish on our table and raced off. At the time, my husband had to go back to the register to pick up a cuttley stand himself.
We had to wait for a while for rice to arrive, and by the time it had arrived the beef dish was starting to go cold.
When the hot pot arrived to our table, I was reaching to the sweet buns on the table, unaware another staff member was approaching, who very roughly placed the hot pot on the table right next to my arm, nearly hitting me with it, and raced off again. The staff member didn't saying anything, no warning that hot items were about to be placed on the table, and just placed it so carelessly. I was lucky that I noticed it fast enough and had dodged fast enough, otherwise I would have had the fire stand touching my arm and had hot food drop all over my arm.
After that experience, we will not be dining at Jackpot again. See less
