Extremely good value for money, very fast service, authentic, tastey dishes and very welcoming staff. You could pay a lot more for a lot less at other Canberra restaurant's. Book ahead as it is very popular. Highly recommended. See less

The restaurant is located at the rear of the increasingly grand looking temple, which will be a stunner when it’s finished! The restaurant itself is very picturesque, and has good acoustics so that conversation doesn’t have to be a shouting match. Finally, the food is terrific! Tasty and light, it’s Vietnamese Done Right! It’s not licenced (no surprise) but you can apparently BYO. And the prices are very reasonable. See less

Very affordable (nothing over $14 the last time I checked) and tastes delicious! The crispy tofu in particular is just the right consistency, not too soft or too firm. I really liked the decor (especially the courtyard outside), not to mention the gorgeous temple around the front. The more people eat at Karuna, the more funding for the temple's construction, and the better the experience for everyone. Win win! See less

This veggie restaurant is located in a Buddhist temple. They are open Friday and Saturday nights. Their food is delicious! The menu says it is mostly staffed by volunteers and that the money goes towards building a new monastery. They do eat in and takeaway. Highly recommended. See less

I had a dinner with my friend at Karuna. Our meals came quickly, serves were very generous, tasty with greens aside. Service was very lovely and helpful as we were checking for vegan and gluten free meals. Atmosphere was lovely, calm, and inviting. Will be back See less

I had a great experience here. I loved the curry puffs, Vietnamese crepe and the coconut jelly in the coconut! I would love to have some clearer labelling or staff knowledge or which items are 100% vegan though. It's a beautiful setting inside and out with comfortable seating. The staff were very kind. Truely traditional Vietnamese food. Delicious & surprisingly inexpensive. Even non veggo's will relish. Recommend spring rolls & Pho soup. Prompt friendly service, amazing setting & beautiful decor. A unique experience. Only opened a month ago but immediately very popular especially with Vietnamese community. Only open 5.30-9pm Friday & Saturday so MUST BOOK. Very peaceful, i would go just for the atmosphere. Eco based. Bookcase full of free books. See less
