Kazu was super nice! Although I was a little sad I could not have a oolong high! でも the tempura veg was amazing. After living in Tokyo for 4 years and being back in Melbourne for 2... my wife and I both agree it’s the best tempura since Japan. Food is seriously delicious. We love Japanese food- the carpaccio, the eggplant and tempura veg dishes were tasty and fresh with great flavours. Decor has been updated so a better look and feel. Definitely a MUST to try See less

We had dinner at Kazu tonight and ate a combination of fresh shashimi on rice and delicious japanese flavoured chicken thighs on rice. It was gluten free with gf soy, and was delicious. Everything was really fresh. With a good selection of wines and friendly, quick service, it made a for a great experience! See less

What can I say... very expensive, no ramen, egg plant raw and soaked in oil when it’s supposed to be roasted. Chicken was very oily and pink on the inside. Restaurant was empty on a busy Wednesday, so should’ve known better not to walk in. Overall feel of the place was outdated. Bad vibes. Don’t waste your hard earned money. See less

Very expensive, serving sizes are disproportionate to the price. They offered only mineral water to my partner who said yes not realising it is actually charged to you. They then try to get you to order more drinks on top of that. Decor looks rather home-made and bland to say the least. It was empty, yet we were placed right next to the noisy kitchen with staff walking past. See less

What used to be our favourite restaurant in mornington isn’t as good as it used to be.. Very poor service. Orders mixed up but we were still charged full price. Even though it was staffs mistake. I ordered a main tempura an got entree size then got told they would bring out another entree but was charged for a main size when entree was $12.. I was charged $28 but didn’t get the rice that came with main. Was then told 2 entree were same as main!! I also felt the sauces were watered down an not as tasty. I won’t be rushing back sadly my daughter also ordered an got the wrong dish but was charged for the dish she got not the one she ordered because she ate it!! She didn’t realise until we asked to look ok at menu again!! Not good enough., See less

We ordered take away. My husband usually sticks with Thai or Chinese. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and all came with flavour and freshness. Could not fault a thing. Would highly recommend to anyone. See less

What a little gem in Mornington! Pleasantly surprised. Run by Japanese, serving amazing Japanese food (not Chinese wannabes). I had a 3 yr old and a 10 month old with us and they were well accommodated - kids plates and cutleries and high chair available. Will definitely return again and highly recommended. See less

This place has rave reviews but not sure why. I ate here last week and the food was average but the price was not. I had the thinly sliced beef which was clearly pulled straight from the fridge. Salmon teriyaki main. The salmon was hard and dry. I'd say it's pre-cooked, refrigerated then simply pan fried to heat it up. Not fresh at all. I may have picked the wrong dishes for this place. $55 later and that's with no drinks, just green tea! Ouch. See less

Beautiful food. Authentic Japanese cuisine. Fresh, tasty and real. Not Chinese pretending to be Japanese. Not food court sushi. Best I have had since being in Tokyo. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Will come here again. See less
