Our friends made a reservation for lunch for four. My first impression was that this restaurant has a typical German look and the views are fantastic. We were greeted by the waitress, who was German, dressed in a traditional German style. We were offered a choice of table the best was outside overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains. Of course at a German restaurant we were having German Beer and soft drinks. We chose hot Bretzels to share, with butter and a savoury cheese dip. This was enough of a starter. We discovered Pork knuckle wasnt available on the lunchtime menu ☹ , but 😀 we were advised if we asked when we booked it would be available. We had a Jager Schnitzel, 2 meat and sausage and a beef pie. ( The beef pie was of a Germany variety 😀). What really tasty food. We all commented on how the food was presented and tasted. It was really good, some of the tastiest food we had all had in a long time. We are going to book again in the new year. So how did King Ludwigs go? Looked authentic, lovely wooden construction and great outlook. Staff, to be honest, we couldn't fault them. The restaurant was busy, but everyone got attention, lots of good humour and a bit of fun. Food, delicious, full of flavour and well presented. Also good portion sizes. Recomendation. Absolutely, book a table, you wont be disapointed. A little expensive, but worth it. They dont crowd people in. Good value for money. See less

My partner and I dropped in recently for a late afternoon drink on the balcony. Our host Carina was very knowledgeable about the beer menu and looked after us exceptionally well. An amazing view with great service mean we will be back very soon. See less

Truly authentic Bavarian cuisine. Meals were hearty and the flavours were on point. Almost every beer has its own glass. Highly recommended. Book early to get a table on the balcony as the views to Brisbane over the Glasshouse Mountains is awesome See less

My husband and I were celebrating our 10year wedding anniversary and had lunch here today. I had booked here several weeks in advance to ensure a good table. My husband is German and grew up cooking German food with his grandparents who were chefs and taught him these amazing recipes so our entire weekend away had been planned around this visit. He loved it. It took him back down memory lane, especially the Black Forest cake. Food was good, large servings. Beer here is amazing. Service was immediate and staff very courteous. When I had booked I had requested a nice table with view given the importance of the day. One of the staff was very kind to move us to a nicer table with a view instead of tucked in a corner but I felt later this may have caused some trouble with another diner seemingly more important than us. That experience made us feel a little uncomfortable like we were imposing or less important than another. I believe it could have been managed better instead of being eyeballed by this diner. The staff were very kind to us, but the other customers rudeness made us want to leave quickly. Thank you King Ludwigs team for your service today and being considerate regardless. I do recommend trimming the garden to take advantage of that amazing view and avoid any further discontentment. If it was not for the others negativity it would have been perfect. See less

We were really looking forward to lunch here to start my partner's weekend away for his birthday and it was unfortunately really disappointing. I emailed in advance a week prior to check if they had their a la carte menu for lunch or set menu and was told 'not necessarily either' which was a bit vague but they emailed me their a la carte lunch menu. Bit disappointed to find they only had the set menu available which was REALLY steep - $65 for main and dessert. 'Oh well' we thought, we were here already. We ended up waiting an hour for dessert after checking in on how long it would take twice. We ended up just leaving without dessert, who knew how long it would take?! Overall really disappointing unfortunately. Lovely venue and main was actually quite nice but poor communication among staff, hiked prices, only doing a set menu....wouldn't recommend. See less

How would you feel if you arrived at a half empty restaurant not long before 2pm, a waitress welcomed you and told you it was ok even if you didn't have a reservation, the same waitress walked away and came back with the menus ready to take you to your table but then a guy arrived and told you you needed to leave because they were fully booked and understaffed? Yes... exactly! We felt that too. See less

My parents surprised us with a lunch here today to celebrate our engagement, as it’s one of their favourite places. Friends from Brisbane were also invited to enjoy the celebration, amazing food and beautiful location. Service however was so very uncomfortably rude and aggressive. We all honestly just wanted to eat and leave as soon as possible. Very saddened by the the whole experience unfortunately, as per email already sent earlier. Genuinely hope it was just an off day, and that others booked in to celebrate a special event don’t experience what we all did today 😞 See less

They say that sales is all about how you leave the customer feeling. From booking a table and being sqeezed in last minute by Barbara upon our arrival in Maleny, the experience was simply infallible. Greeted like a long lost friend on arrival at the restaurant, given a great table, menus and specials explained and pointed in the direction of a fantastic house cocktail for my partner and a great beer choice for myself, it was so easy to see things going downhill here... but they didn't. Three courses of tremendous food, and impeccable attentive service later, we didn't get away without that final special touch that will certainly bring us back again to a host and team experience that I can honestly say I haven't had anywhere else in the world in all my travels. My fiance and I went here for dinner as part of our babymoon and boy did it deliver! The food and beer took us back to Germany and younger days enjoying Oktoberfest - absolute value for money, portion sizes were huge and the service was impeccable. The staff were DELIGHTFUL and truly made our night so enjoyable. We cant wait to go back again and took home some delicious schnapps so we can relive the magic! Thank you so much.
