Honestly deserves way more than 5 stars. I came in this morning for the first time as a birthday treat for my mum and it was an amazing experience. The customer service was great and me and my mum had a wonderful time. The food was great too, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options!! The quantity was amazing and the coffee and hot chocolate was delicious! 100% recommend coming here!! great service and food :) See less

Probably the best place for meat and vegetarian food. super light and absolutely lovely staffs who are always really nice and kind. You will be addicted, so glad they were still open after the pandemic lockdown. Great coffee and all-rounder awesome place to grab something quick. See less

Cute little place in Gungahlin, a must try for everyone!! The empanadas are baked, not fried, so you don't have to feel guilty scoffing down a few. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious... The empanadas, the meal options, the desserts & cookies and the drinks. It's a very authentic and well designed menu, with lots of traditional items. The menu is also succinct, while at the same time offering quite a lot of variety - good mix of veg and non veg options, hot and cold drinks, savoury n sweet etc. The empanada filling for me was just so so. There is a variety of fillings, so if you select a few, each one tastes a bit different. I liked the cheese and spinach the best. The cheeseburger was slightly too salty for me. The sweet potato and lentil was definitely different, quite good but did not wow me. The staff are friendly and service is good. It's a small shop, but they have made the space work and it's very comfortable. Edit: went here again and updated star rating. See less

Amazed with the variety of South American taste in pasties. I enjoyed plant based protein pastie. I am choosy person about coffee and I totally liked the coffee beans they are using. I am going to try their Oat based waffle next time. See less

Outstanding, great-value dining experience. Whether for a quick takeaway or eating in, La Empanada delivers in spades. Empanadas are well-sized (2 will do for lunch) and are delicious. Obvious care has been taken to ensure fillings are not gluggy, keeping the pastry perfect. The paired sauces and infused oils heighten and freshen the fillings well. The Columbian coffee beans make for some of Canberra's best coffee, prepared incredibly quickly without sacrificing flavour. The mug size is very generous! The painted South American flair in store contributes to a welcoming and lively atmosphere. The owner and staff engage with customers with obvious passion for their products. It’s so nice to be able to taste some of the South American specialties in a friendly place. This one is clean and has a variety of empanadas and they are all delicious. Service was quick but not without personality and the smiles definitely added to the experience. It’s clear that they care. Desserts are must try too. On-site coffee was as good as the rest. Absolutely enjoyed my La Empanadas experience. We first tried these delicious pies when friends brought them over; we then visited their Gungahlin store to buy our own box of pies. Best options are the spinach and cheese and cheeseburger, which my kids enjoyed. Also tried a heap of other flavours, including chicken jalapeño, pizza mia and Portobello chicken. But what made the experience really great was the staff--knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic about their products. That kind of joy just permeated their food and make us come back again and again. See less

Nice food, cosy atmosphere and friendly service. This cafe is worth a visit or two to try authentic South American food. You shouldn’t miss in the desserts as well. They also have daily specials. These guys aren’t new to food business –they have been a food truck going around the region for a few years now and proved doing well. I have no doubt that the community is glad to see them finally opening a shop. See less
