My first experience with Ethiopian food. Wasn't sure what to expect, but based on the reviews, I had solid hopes. The food did not disappoint... It was unique in Flavour and very tasting. Service is great. See less

It's my first time having Ethiopian food I seriously loved it. Injera (flatbread comes with every dish) tastes tangy and kind of similar to indian Attu (homemade fermented dosa dish). Order combination dishes so you can taste all kinds of curries. See less

Delicious food at a great price. We ate the ganberi, combination for one (with chicken, goat, lentils, lamb) and chai teas. Meat was all beautifully cooked and all dishes were packed with flavour. All the diners around us enjoyed their food too. We'll be back. See less

A marvellous flavour experience, I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a meal that will inspire your taste buds. Very cute restaurant, food served by the owner and a delicious lemon lime and bitters. I suggest letting the owner order for you with the mixed meals of the day. Enjoy See less

Come check out little Africa restaurant on Victoria St in West Melbourne. We’ve always driven past and it’s alway busy so make sure to call ahead. Enjoy authentic Ethiopian stews and curries served on top of injera, a large sourdough flatbread made from fermented teff flour. Ethiopians eat most of the time with their right hands, using pieces of injera to pick up bites of entrées and side dishes. If you’re not someone who can eat with your hands you can order take away via door dash. The flatbread was surprisingly really sour but once you take a bite with the sides the sourness vanishes! A sink nearby so you can easily wash your hands before and after eating. The five of us picked one item each off the menu to get and this is what we ordered. Fool: fava beans Doho Zighini Goat Derek - pan fried lamb. This had some crunch and offered texture to our meal. Asa Zighini - fish. This was the sweetest one. They all were served with a different curry/stew from each other. We demolished it! It was a really good feed and affordable too. We were stuffed! We recommend taking a few friends along to share the experience and to enjoy a feast. See less

The food is great. I read elsewhere that the same spices are used throughout the menu, but the flavours are so well balanced that you would never tell. A platter - vegan or mixed - is enough for two hungry people. Great value. See less

This just may be my favorite Ethiopian place in all of Melbourne. I've been back about 4 times now. The service is super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. I'm glad they've moved to a bigger location since it's a lot easier to walk in now (although, it gets super busy some nights so probably better to book ahead) See less

Accidentally found this gem of a spot after a group of people stepped out which caught my attention to the beautifully decorated restaurant. Made a mental note to come back- and boy, was I glad I did! the food was delicious, filling and just hits the spot! Been to a few other Ethiopian/African resto around the city; Fitzroy, northcote, etc. but this little hidden gem in north Melbourne imo beat all the other trendy spots in the city. Humble and unpretentious, this is a must try for those seeking a down to earth African experience. See less

One of my favourite restaurants! The food is so flavoursome and fresh, and the Combination option (with a bit of everything) is fantastic value. The gentleman who is always serving is lovely and the service is great. It’s often busy, even on weeknights, so if you’re a large group it might be best to phone ahead and book a table. See less

Been to this place lately. Nice ambience after they shifted now to new location @223 Victoria St. Kept quite clean & the presentation of food and choices of curries in it amazed me. If you are a curry person you might fall in love with this one. We ordered ourselves a 2 person combo of each Vegetarian platter and Non-vegetarian platter and both of them were quite filling for 4 of us. Great place..might hang around again sometime here for some Ethiopian cuisine. See less

A small yet amazing place. Food here is very tasty and was to my liking. Like most places the dish is served with Injira. They also serve few African beers as well. See less
