This place is our weekly weekend hangout place. Nice clean environment with the most delicious food with affordable price. The amount of food given in each dish is also good. See less

Nice enough food, however, the staff need to learn communication skills and customer service skills. We ordered 6 dishes. 4 came out fine. 2 were wrong meals. One was replaced fine, but the second required us to chase and follow up five times. It eventually came out, but by then everyone else had finished their meals. Staff were gruff, unapologetic , disinterested in assisting. It's a shame as the food is nice and we have dined there many many times over the years, but the service really put us off and hence the poor review. See less

The food was fine but with more staff than customers present was told that there were no more soup spoons available. Clearly a lie unless they have only 4 spoons total. My Partner and I shared a spoon taking it in turn to enjoy our meals. I was offered a takeaway spoon which I gratefully accepted however that never materialised. Sunnybank has many other options. I don't think I'll bother with this place again. See less

Quite nice food. Can get quite busy. Price is decent for the amount you receive. They don't have napkins for some reason, so take your own. Excellent selection of food and drinks. See less

Hadn’t been to Malaya Corner for a while and didn’t realise they moved to ordering by phone / QR code, so spent a good few minutes looking around for a waiter to come take our order before realising it was DIY at your table. On the plus side you can do split bills easily by ordering and paying separately, and there’s no card surcharge involved, however that may be reflected in the menu pricing. Almost all the main rice and noodle based meals on the menu are priced around $17-20, which I feel is getting a fair bit up there for a casual eatery like this one. Portions are pretty generous though, so depending on your appetite one serve might be good for 2 meals. I had the R15 K.L. bak kut teh (吉隆坡肉骨茶), $16.80 - herbal soup with pork ribs served with Chinese doughnut stick & rice. It’s been a while since I had BKT and this version wasn’t particularly punchy in herbal-ness but more or less scratched that itch. The youtiao was a bit small though - really had to ration it out especially given I was sharing some of my food with my son. No more self-serve water, so flagged down a wait staff to ask for it. It took a fair while to arrive, and in two distinct stages, making me wonder whether I need to chase up the remaining cups after only 2 cups arrived then came a period of nothing... Wouldn’t be opposed to coming back but also wouldn’t be high on my priority list. See less

Online ordering is the only option at this restaurant and you must be careful because orders cannot be changed. No napkins supplied at the table as you have to grab them from the tissue boxes at the counter. No tap water supplied either - you have to buy bottled water. Food was okay, typically large serve as is expected in Market Square. Social distancing between tables is carefully observed so that’s a plus. See less

Malaya Corner has been in Market Square ever since I can remember... maybe 20 years or more. Pre-covid this place was bursting at the seams and had an amazing buzzing atmosphere. During covid they had to reorganise the dining room and take away setup to suit the gov requirements. Hopefully it will return to the good old days once we get through covid. The food has always been there very strong card. All Malaysian dishes are spot on and if in the mood for a nasi lemak or dry curry noodle, you know you will get one that will make you happy. People might say the staff are a bit short. That’s the charm of Market Square. If you want great service, food that’s half and good, and food that’s twice as expensive, they should go closer to the city. If they want snappy no frills service but blow your mind food, Market Square is the place. Nasi-lemak: Coconut rice - very creamy and rich. Chicken curry was very tasty, I was unlucky that I got a massive piece of breast meat but the other piece was how I liked it. Anchovies and peanuts, pickles, all come together to make an impressive nasi lemak. Probably the best in Sunnybank. Dry curry noodles: Each element in this meal is done well. Noodles and soy sauce good. Bbq pork and chicken, juicy. Vegetables good to allow a bit of crisp feel. Chilli is good. See less

Extensive menu of Malaysian cuisine and great value. Typical busy Asian restaurant ambience which means it is loud and crowded most of the time. Has table service but can be hard to summon wait staff some times. Portions are very big and come out reasonably quickly but restaurant provides take away containers. The go to place for Sago. Good lemon black tea but not as good as some other restaurants at Market Square. See less
