A beautiful night in a beautiful restaurant, the service was outstanding thanks to Kara for making it such a personal experience, the food was honest rustic and delicious, the wine was another level especially the amazing (& very long) list to choose from which was brilliantly backed up with a world of knowledge & good advice from Kara yet again & the company wasn’t bad either. Their staff needs to be a little polite and if they try to improve their service rather than being rude, will be a much better experience, thats not italian culture. Telling someone to do some excercise is none of your bussiness.. See less

I had driven and walked pasted a few times and noticed the stunning alfresco setting. Then on a Sunday afternoon I ran into Richard the owner and he was lovely. With a tough few years due of Covid I knew I had to go and support my local. Richard was the ultimate host. The food was a breath of fresh air. The wine was on point and well paired with my meal. The zucchini flower starter was thoughtfully dressed. The ragu was al dente, the meat falling apart and all was well seasoned. Somehow Masani felt like home and I’m not Italian….. See less

I’m really sorry guys but I didn’t like it and you didn’t ask me how I found it so here’s a review. The prices are exorbitant. Recently I added a $20 tip to an Italian meal elsewhere which gave so much more divine, innovative food for half the price. I should’ve seen the pricelist for everything before I agreed to the order, A small portion of tomato salad was delicious but $25, a basic Pinot Noir was $20, even the bread and butter was $14. I was really disappointed by the artichoke and mozzarella tart, they used a thin flavourless pastry casing and added some cold chunks of mozzarella and artichoke with no flavour and called that a “tart” for an expensive price. I also ordered a coffee but at least I saw the price of it (6.5) and it was a good coffee. I almost paid $100 for a quite plain meal with a lovely small tomato salad as the highlight of the meal. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS RESTAURANT, WORST EXPERIENCE!!! I booked over the phone for a birthday dinner for 5 and was charged a $200 deposit without my knowledge, making it an unauthorised payment. I dine out quite often and have never paid this much deposit for a booking but I thought i'd sort it out when i eventually dine there. Closer to date my friends caught Covid-19 and i had to cancel the dinner. I called up 6 days in advance to cancel my booking but was refused the refund of my $200 deposit which was honestly a joke, on top of that the person over the phone was extremely rude. I also emailed through but did not hear back. What a way to ensure i will never ever return. See less

A warm welcome, attention to detail and a beautiful dining room. This was our first visit to Masani and didn’t disappoint. A beautiful seasonal menu of simple Italian food done really really well. The Osso Bucco is exceptional. Kara really knows her stuff, she guided us through the menu and suggested the perfect wine to pair with our dishes. FYI, ALWAYS leave room for dessert! See less

My wife & my daughters with their partners dined there last night. From arriving at 7pm our mains were not served until 9.30pm. While only 3 of us had entrees, the waiting time for the mains was simply unacceptable. I was advised by 1 waiter that my roasted duck dish main course dish was taking time. I was concerned for my daughters welfare as she is pregnant with her having to wait so long for her meal as she didn’t have an entree. Is kitchen staffing the issue here? Good food but come on 2 and half hours for mains. Sorry that was very disappointing particularly when the night was to celebrate nuptials & the pending arrival of a grandson. We didn’t have deserts & it may have been nice to have had something discounted off the bill given the time we had to wait. Service was clearly a let down. Disappointing 😕 See less

The new grocery takeway section in the restaurant is just the best. The local farmers produce and herbs are exceptional, so fresh, like a small farmers market. Also baked sourdough, croissants and coffee. What a wonderful idea. The owner so kind and friendly as are the staff. Love going here the restaurant beautiful feel. See less

Three people sought a restaurant for a good meal and conversation. We chanced upon Masani. Through the windows we saw linen tablecloths and a real fire. It proved an inspired choice. It is an Italian family establishment of high standards and classical style. We placed ourselves in the hands of the head waiter and enjoyed everything that followed. The drinks were distinctive and made with care, the dishes were full of flavour and colour, the Chardonnay was buttery and the desserts were perfection. Even glints from the fire on the tableware added to the pleasure of our time together. We experienced friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service that made for a complete and unforgettable dining experience. Nothing we have had before in Melbourne compares. We will be returning to Masani in the hope of having more such evenings. See less

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Attentive, knowledgeable and professional service. Amazing sommelier and wine list. Food was plentiful, traditional, pasta handmade. Could not fault any part of it. This is old school Melbourne Italian at its very best. Bypass the modern Italian eateries with hipster touches, for a special evening here. Our party of four will be back. Great for large groups. Can not recommend highly enough. See less
