Very unpleasant chef! Disappointing experience, I will not go back. I ordered a steak sandwich with a rare cooking which was accepted by the waitress and which had already been done last week. I go to get my dish and the waitress tells me that the cooking of the meat is not rare because it is not possible. I told her that I don't understand because it had already been done and that I would have liked to have been informed when I ordered. Then the chef talks to me directly from the kitchen in a terrible way and tells me that last week it wasn't him and that he doesn't want to cook the meat in a rare way. He starts to take a piece of raw meat in a violent way and shakes it in front of me "explaining" that it is too thin to be cooked the way I want it to be. I am very shocked by this behaviour, the chef was very very rude and I never experienced that before! Also, the chef talks in a horrible way to his staff and shouts in the kitchen. For a restaurant belonging to such a renowned hotel, I find it disgraceful and unacceptable to speak in this way to a customer, to his staff or even to anyone. In 2022, this kind of behaviour should be banned! See less

Great staff. Food very disappointing. Pancakes undercooked. Porridge had pre-packaged honey. Same brand you have in hospital. Eggs Benedict had pre-packaged supermarket ham. Eggs over cooked. See less

Most of the menu was out of stock which was very unfortunate. A member of the group asked for no sauce and their food came with sauce. The cocktails were subpar; the espresso and the passionfruit cocktails both say they come with caramel and didn't, the passionfruit one was too sour, the pineapple one was to strong on the alcohol. To top it off the music was too loud for the setting. See less

Its not often I leave a review but this one needed to be said. Group of ours had a booking for 2 hours on the 12th March 2022. All our ordering was done via me&u, we received our food but no drinks. When we raised this a waiteress told us the drinks part of Me&u wasn’t working and someone should have told us this but we were never informed. When she took our order for drinks we told her we’d already paid for them, she rudely snapped at our group and said she’d return with our drinks. Food and everything was good but when we finished and our table cleared we were told we had to leave 1 hour into our booking due to another table coming. We had booked for 2 hours and told the waiteress this, they said they would follow it up and get back to us but never did. We decided enough was enough and promptly left. No communication from waiters and rude service. See less

Food was really good unfortunately this place isn't organised at all, the table we we're shown to wasn't actually the one we'd booked, we got our mains before our starters and when we asked about our drink order after half an hour we were told that the drinks section on the Me & u app wasn't working then the waitress made us feel like this was our fault by being very rude. Then we were asked to leave an hour into a 2 hour booking because they'd double booked our table. See less

In an age when half of Grill’d’s items are vegetarian, there HAS to be better options in a place attached to a 5 star hotel. Very disappointing. I like my meat dishes sure, the bar here is great, but come on - two pizzas or wedges?! Very ordinary. Please fix this glaring hole in an otherwise great place. See less

I was a guest at the hotel tonight and I went to the bar for some food. I was greeted by a very hostile patron yelling profanity at the staff. The staff behind the bar defused the situation with great proficiency and class. I went on to enjoy a lovely meal and a couple of glasses of wine. To the staff members on tonight … well done you handled the situation perfectly and to the drunk middle aged woman who acted aggressively and was completely out of line you should be ashamed of yourself! Highly recommended.. nice place..staff friendly.. Today i have order one chicken schnitzel for have here and one chicken burger for take away... when i start dinner...i see that is beef burger...the manager send the new one set for free to my hotel after i call for asking... the manager is very polite...i am very happy with their services...i will come back... Ostani is located on the ground floor of hotel realm. It has a nice fireplace in the centre of the room, great atmosphere from afternoon till late at night, while mornings are quiet and peaceful. I personally would not recommend having breakfast at ostani simply because the food is not hotel quality and it’s very expensive. A babycino costs 4 bucks which is just froth! pancakes are generous on the plate, but it doesn’t taste good. To be honest the presentation is nowhere near hotel standards. You’re better off going somewhere else and queuing up for much nicer food and coffee especially if your visiting Canberra. Venture out and explore what Canberra has to offer because it’s completely different nowadays than it was 5-10 years ago. See less

Reasonably priced for well-presented lunch which came in good time with good service. Pleasant atmosphere on what was a quiet day. Had the Marinated Tuna Poke Bowl and Coconut & Lime Poached Chicken Salad. Poke met expectation and was a generous serving, chicken salad was satisfactory but a little wanting in terms of complexity of flavours. Complementary still and sparkling water on tap was a nice touch. See less
