I had dinner there tonight and I ordered a lot of food as I’m feeling homesick and craving for Filipino food. I liked the kare kare and palabok. Unfortunately, the stuffed squid was super chewy that I have to ask for kitchen knife to get through it. The Java rice tasted more of turmeric than garlicky. I found the eggplant omelette to be weird colour as it is green. The pork belly bago was also chewy. Despite these, I enjoyed the watermelon virgin mojito. Staff are friendly. See less

- Kare kare beef was really dried, under seasoned, plain. - Pork Sisig with mayonnaise sauce on top??? Not sure about this. - Crispt Pork pata: this is more like dried lechon. - Steam rice was hard like overnight cooked rice. - They charged 4$ per glass full of ice of diluted soft drink. It was quite a furious experience of filo fusion. 😐 See less

We recently had lunch at Papa J's and our crave for Filipino food was fully satisfied! The crunch of the crispy pata plus the savory Kare Kare matched the aromatic Java Rice and Palabok while the Turon and Sago't Gulaman delighted our meal. Also, the staff was friendly while the place reminded us of home. Overall, me, my wife, our Kids Zach and Zam, enjoyed a sumptous meal at Papa J's! We will be back again very soon. See less

Hard to beat. Just the best. Flavours really pop. It's all good. Chicken wings hands down the best in Canberra. What they do to adobo is OBSCENE. Burgers bring something new and exciting to the table. Pork skewers present something bacon wish it was, thick slabs of pork belly smothered in something better. It's all good here. IT'S ALL GOOD HERE. One of my new favourite eateries in Canberra. Get on it. See less

Good food and with a bit of improvement could be great! Grilled pork belly was flavourful and properly marinated. The salad that came with it is good. Crispy chicken adobo taste good, but can confirm crispy batter doesn't really go well with a classic adobo. Fried rice was ok. Nothing special. The eggplant omelette was visually weird as the egg was green but taste ok. Best part of this dish was the mango salad as that was tasty. Lumpia shanghai taste good but just a tad dry. Sauce helped. Pork BBQ was one of my favourite dish. Good amount of vinegar and quite tender. The baked fish was great! Flavour was there. Wish the fish was de-scaled as fried skin is great. Serving size for all the food is decent. Will definitely come back again to try their other dishes. See less

Visiting from interstate, we looked for a filipino restaurant and came upon Papa J's. What an absolute jewel in the restaurant scene of Canberra. Service was prompt and welcoming. Nothing was too much to ask for. The food was simply delectable! I had lumpia, pork belly, bbq pork, inisal and a few other dishes. It was not hard to over-indulge! Definitely deserves a 5 star rating. Well done! See less

Another addition to the diverse cuisine in Canberra and a worthy competitor to Lolo and Lola's. We ordered the Kare-Kare and Palabok and we were surprised with the amount of servings it came with (more than appropriate for its price). Its our new go-to Filipino restaurant in town. Had dinner there. Pork skewers they were okay... not much shine Calamari actually enjoyed it tasted good with the vinegar sauce Adobo rolls. Nicely cooked and hot Baos dissapinted. They buns were COLD. Not a big flavor either. There are better pino restaurants in Canberra... See less

I had lunch here with my sister and our dog. I loved the interior of the restaurant, and the staff are very friendly. I ordered their chicken inasal and it's very delicious! It reminds me of the famous Mang Inasal in the Philippines. Their pork bbq is very appetizing! I even came back and ordered a take away dinner. Overall, my experience was amazing. I will definitely come back, and try their other dishes. See less
