Coffee was great, as was the selection of cakes. Staff friendly and pleasant. Love the themed chairs and cushions. Obviously an ideal spot while waiting for your allocated visiting time for the War Memorial, but I think if I lived in Canberra I would be a regular visitor. See less

We walked in at 1450 sat down tried to order sandwiches and cans of coke. We were unable to place order. We went to the counter and the lady said they were closed. I asked if they were open until 3 as the website indicated and she said it’s two seconds to I indicated my watch said 1453. We were still unable to get service. The food did look good and very inviting. Has tainted my visit to Canberra a little. See less

Very comfortable and clean facilities, but the food is quite over-priced for what you get. The fries that accompanied the burger were unfortunately a bit overdone and sauce costs extra on top. See less

Poppy's cafe at the Australian War Memorial is a great place to grab a bite to eat or a coffee. We had breakfast here before your tour of the memorial (family big 4). There are plenty of seats inside and out. I highly recommend their bacon and egg roll. The coffee is also great and I'm a fussy coffee drinker. See less

The cafe seating is nice, inside and out. The view outside is nice looking back towards Parliament House. The food is fresh but oriented towards the "quick bite" type meals. You can get pre-made sandwiches, slices and bakery goods. They have a small hot food menu with limited options. The food is good though and the service is quick. Even if you're eating in, you're food comes in a takeaway container. I suppose people don't go to the War Memorial for the snacks. See less

Good coffee at an outstanding venue. The War Memorial is a must see for all Canberra visitors. Poppies is a simple little cafe on the premises of the Memorial with basic breakfasts lunches, snacks, etc. See less

Visited for breakfast in Aug 2019. A nice cosy place. There were enough breakfast options to choose from. One things needs to be mentioned that I was served cold mocha while it was supposed to be a hot drink. It appeared as if my order was kept on the kitchen shelf for quite a while. That's why 3 stars. They have outdoor seating as well which would be great in good weather. Overall recommended for families also. But do not forget for extra instructions at the counter to serve you hot food. See less

This is the cafe out the back at the Australian war memorial. It’s surprisingly large with good indoor and outdoor areas. It was going off today and that’s unsurprising. It’s Anzac Day eve. Service was ok. The coffee here was just acceptable. It’s an average experience at best. Needs a lift to go to next level. See less

Late morning pause in school traffic. Basic cafe but clean well-designed if overly militaristic interior and sunny outside seating. No wifi. Several unnecessary mentions of Tony Abbott in wall captioning and patriotic British songs being played. Subtle but noticeable propaganda. See less

I got my sparkling water without any particular issues (see some of the other reviews). Tables and fit out was general fine and views of the war memorial and Canberra City were lovely. Glasses etc felt cheap and underwhelming. Kind of mixed in my mind. See less
