Edited Our IGNI date night was back in 2019 now we had it booked for ages but is still vivid in my mind and I just added some photos I found on my phone. From the moment we entered the restaurant it felt comfortable. It was a friendly and cool vibe, we sat at the bar and it was comfy. The staff made us feel so special. Every course came with a story, where it was sourced and how it was cooked. We only went the 5 course but even John who is a big eater was satisfied. We experienced some new tastes and love every minute. I liked it that much took My daughter who is a chef for lunch the next day we sat at the kitchen which was a whole new experience. All the staff made sure it was a new menu for us so I didn’t have any of the same foods again. The night and lunch were incredible a fabulous experience I still tell people about Loved it See less

Went with my spouse venue is very intimate great for dates and special occasions. We had the food and wine pairings. The service was excellent attentive but not intrusive. The staff knowledge of food and wine pairings is excellent and really adds to the experience. Will definitely be back and recommend. See less

I have very mixed feelings about our experience at Igni. The flavours of the food were delicious but the portion sizes were extremely small, a huge misstep by the kitchen. I’m not a huge eater so I often find I’m unable to eat everything for a set menu/chef menu because it’s just too much food for me but even I left this place hungry and my partner was positively ravenous. The service was also a bit hit and miss, the lady who greeted us was delightful but our server for the meal behaved as if we were inconveniencing her by having dined there. The food was delicious and the matched wines very nice but I can’t imagine after leaving hungry with inconsistent service we will be returning. There are much better options at this price point. It’s a shame because the chef is clearly talented but they need to lift their standards significantly to be on par with their competitors in the fine dining field. See less

This restaurant was as expected when you read other reviews. I guess we were hoping the points repeatedly expressed about the lack of portion size would have been addressed. However after a 6 course meal at $170 per person you do not expect to have to get something to eat on the way home because you are still hungry. We were very disappointed at the lack of food in each course with only bite sized portions being served. We were offered an additional course each which was priced at $20 per person. Take a look at the photos and you can see that all dishes are of a similar size in terms of the quantity of food. Some courses were very nice ( like the pork neck) while others were unbalanced and missed the mark ( like the squid with Vietnamese sauce). You could not taste the squid and it was chewy. Overall a disappointing meal but if the team takes on the comments of several reviewers about the portion sizes I am sure they can meet expectations. The price is probably about double what it should be at the moment. You can do better in Geelong for your money. See less

This place was worth the wait though! The options are flexible but simple. Each person can select a 5 item or 8 item tasting menu, with or without pairings. This flexibility is perfect for my husband and I. I get full quickly so I can taste the extra courses from his without committing to my own 8 item pairing. See less

Simply a must-visit. To start with, the food is delicious. But this is somewhat expected on such a place, right ? Flavours are balanced, surprising and yet comforting. The technique can go from fermentation to flame grill. A whole panel of texture and taste ! Also worth to be mentioned : the mocktail are excellent (and homemade). I went for the non-alcoholic pairs and everything was matching very smoothly. And to finish with : what a cool atmosphere! It's great to be surrounded by happy people talking and smiling. The team is young, relaxed and adorable. So as a conclusion, just go. It's worth it in every ways in my opinion. Thank you for the good time. See less

Delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend sitting at the kitchen bench to get the complete experience! Very friendly and knowledgeable wait-staff. Plan for at least a minimum of 3 hours for the 8-course meal. Plenty of car parking nearby within a 5 minute walk. See less
