Great location on the Kingston Foreshore, which allows for a walk on the promenade before or after the meal. The food was good, the service was quick, and the interior design was excellent. The only hiccup we had was with the desserts, as the waiter forgot about the desserts and we waited for maybe 20 minutes to get them. In the aftermath, I would not order the desserts again as they were very average. I'd give the place 3.8 out of 5 if the rating were more granular. In the absence of granularity, I rounded up to 4. I recently ordered takeaway lunch, the food was good (as I have come to expect from Sammy’s over the last 20 years). However, when it came to payment the told me the price was ‘x’ and when I looked at my receipt the price was ‘y’. I asked why the price was different. I was told that it was due to a credit card surcharge. Surely, this “surcharge” can be factored into the price, rather than sneaking the cost on to me without warning - it’s not like they are unaware of the extra cost they added to the bill. See less

I hosted a 21st birthday dinner here recently. The management were fantastic in helping to cater an individualised beautiful banquet meal to suit a large group. Nothing was a problem. On the night the staff were amazing; food was superb; and atmosphere great. Cannot thank the team enough for a wonderful night for a large group. Standout food & service. See less

Never coming back to this place. It is pricey and the plates are not that great. I asked for chillies and was charged extra for a teaspoon worth over $3 dollars. I was charged for the takeaway box. I was made to wait even after I had made a booking and the place was not full. I do not recommend this place. Go to the city instead or try a different restaurant on the foreshore. See less

How this place is still open is the eighth wonder of the world…abhorrently awful every time I’ve been here. This last time was particularly disgraceful. Got looked at like we were aliens because they didn’t have our booking. Asked for a bottle of wine and they brought out something totally different, opened it and poured it saying “it’s the same price”. The laksas had the distinct taste of muddy water, the $32 wasabi steak was tough, had a whole red onion in it and about $1.23 worth of chuck steak and came out on a plate the size of the palm of my hand. They also forgot my rice. You’d do much better going down and lapping the water out of lake burley griffin 5 meters away. See less

Overpriced. I had the same and much tastier food in the streets of Malaysia for 1/10 or less of the price here. It is mostly street food, nothing else. But it so badly done. Chicken satay was terrible. I do not recommended this place to anyone. See less

Pretty disappointed, been to the one in city be4 and enjoyed. 1st time here, pretty pricey place so not for if Ur on a budget, asked for some extra chopped chillies and soy got about a table spoon in tiny dish so asked for more as we all like, cost us $8 extra!!! None of the meals were a stand out but all ok but can't say worth the cost. Nice place. See less

Good Malasian food. Food was fresh and yummy however the lady staff who direct is to the table was very rude and not helpful. They don't do split payment so if you are going in group make sure you have your contribution in cash. See less

I came here with hesitation after some people of the negative reviews but our experience was awesome: friendly and efficient service, well priced and some creative options. Sat outside and watched the sunset. The calamari in special sauce is a must! Loved the experience! See less

Would not recommend this place at all. Would instead recommend that you spend your money elsewhere. They are more focused on profits rather than the customer experience and food. Can echo the sentiments of other one star reviews. "Hi, you haven't spent enough and have to spend $30 per head." "Hi, you have to buy a drink with your meal." Nothing advertised noting a minimum spend. Rushed service where they throw the food at you and while you are still getting food off the plate, clear the table. After reading the reviews we were reticent to go to Sammy's, especially the references to the owner & staff. We found the exact opposite. We went for Saturday lunch so it was relatively quite, with maybe 20 customers. 🤔 The staff & the owner were so efficient & courteous & the food was amazing. We had roti, pork & chive dumplings, fried rice, sizzling king prawns with pepper & garlic & sweet & sour pork. A beer & a coke. It came to $94. The decor is very smart & the venue large & spotless. Others don't seem to agree but we loved Sammy's. See less

You can't go wrong when you have a meal at Sammy's. The food it tasty, plentiful and comes in at a good price even when you are overlooking the Kingston harbour 😂😂 Staff are very cheerful and very eager to help. The only downside was the state of the floor under our table. The previous table seems to have more in the floor than in their bellies. Fantastic effort. See less
