A little suburban gem in Griffith Sonamu Korean restaurant with exquisite food, dined midweek and had to come back on the weekend, loved the second meal as much as the first. See less

A delicious experience. The food was amazing, great flavours with prompt service and very reasonable prices. The sweet bean pancake was a great finish to the meal. I can wait to go again. See less

Nice venue and service. Unfortunately the Bibimap wasn't hot and didn't have stone bowl for the authentic crispy rice bottom and egg on top to mix through. Flavours and ingredients were nice, but was expecting that. Would probably try again for a different dish. See less

First time visiting this place and it is a real hidden gem! Initially impressed by the ambience, the freshness and tastiness of food. Loved their seafood pancake (would be 100% if the pancake was crispier☺️). Great customer service too! Will definitely revisit in future. See less

very nice decor and good food! it’s not too “australianized” like other korean restaurants in canberra (apart from having broccoli and capsicum in some dishes, which I found a bit strange…but oh well). I just wish there was more rice cakes in the rice cake dish! everything tasted great, but the japchae and fried chicken were especially amazing! See less

What a great find for my friend and I visiting Canberra. Neither of us were familiar with Korean food but thanks to the very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable Kendall we chose delicious meals, including the vegetable pancake. Everything was amazingly fresh and tasty and we could feel it had been made lovingly. Servings are generous and the decor allowed us to feel like we were eating in a little place in Korea. There's a fabulous garden area out the back which is also excellent for private functions. Keep up the great work team, be sure to say hi to Kendall, she's a real asset to this awesome cafe. Definitely don't miss this experience if you love good, fresh, delicious food. Thanks again to you all!! See less

Beautiful restaurant with such charming decor! Definitely dine in the back where there's a view of the garden/courtyard. The food was delicious - fresh and flavourful dishes. The seafood pancake had the best seafood to batter ratio - lots of seafood/veggies just held together by the pancake. The drinks menu was also interesting (for someone unfamiliar with traditional Korean drinks). Loved the cinnamon drink with its intense flavour. The service was also exceptionally friendly, welcoming us in with warm smiles. Would definitely love to come back next time we're in Canberra. See less

Wow! What a little gem. This relatively new Korean restaurant punches well above its weight. Two of us had the Mul Mandu (vegetarian steamed dumplings) with dipping sauce which was a perfect, light entree for two, followed by the Bibimbab beef (amazing) and the Haemul Jijim (seafood pancake). The pancake was light, tasty and generous with the seaside. Fabulous, well priced and good service. We'll definitely be back. All up $65 for two (including corkage). The outdoor garden seating area is just wonderful. See less

Really nice place with beautiful decor, friendly service and a variety of unique drinks (such as pomegranate juice and Korean beverages). The food may be a little more expensive than people might expect, but for the experience of sitting in the relaxing garden or surrounded by art if seated inside, it’s worth it. You can tell the food is fresh and not made cheaply. See less

Wholesome home style cooking amongst the best Korean food I've had. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the care taken in preparing each dish. We went for dinner on boxing day (I'm so happy they were open, as the restaurant we had booked fell through due to covid). We loved the shik-he (like a barley and cereal flavour) and peach with coco palm jelly drinks. The seafood pancake had an abundance of seafood and was very filling. Kimchi soup was homely, with lots of nice tofu and vegetables, not overly salty or acidic (which is a good thing). Vegetarian bibimbap was large and filled to the brim with vegetables, sauce seemed housemade. Portions are pretty big so try not to over-order. Also, sit at the back, it's nicer (and they have separate female and male toilets). We would definitely come back again. See less

Truly a beautifully set up restaurant with wonderful plants and lots of charm. The extensive menu can satisfy your Korean cravings. I had the kalguksu and it was as good as any I’ve tasted - hearty and delicious. I would make a return visit to try many more things. See less

Absolutely delicious. The garden area out the back is so lovely, a nice little hidden feature not obvious by just looking in from outside. Menu is full of things I have never heard of, and everything we tried had us doing happy food dances. The waitress was kind and efficient. Try the Songwha! See less

The interior, especially the moss garden on the back enclosed patio, is beautiful. The kimchi stew I'm eating is probably the best I've ever had. The menu is varied, including seasonal changes. I really want more people to come here, it's awesome. See less

The food at Sonamu Korean is amazing and very much made with love. Well deserving of the 5 star rating. The photo has pork pan fried with chili, mandu guk, saengsonjon and chicken light fried off the menu. The japchae and tteokbokki are also delicious. Actually everything I've tried is delicious! Sonamu is definitely one of my favourite places to eat and I can't wait to dine-in once lockdown is over. The courtyard also looks like a wonderful place to relax on a warm day. See less
