I'm Mexican and as a Mexican the issue with most "Mexican" restaurants is the fact that their food is not really authentically Mexican or at times even remotely close to anything Mexican. However here the food is actual Mexican traditional food. Even the "aussie" Taco options are legit Mexican tacos with the real mais tortilla not that hard shell stuff you get from Woolworths. This is definitely an underrated place. I often enjoy coming here as it is the most authentic Mexican food I can get here in Adelaide maybe even Australia for that matter. See less

My first visit to a truely Mexican Restaurant and I was totally blown away about the food and the beverages that Taco Quetzalcoatl's have to offer. The food was absolutely fantastic - The Fajitas, the Tacos and Tomales washed done with a Pina Colada and a Negro Modelo was the way to go. No need to go to Mexico this restaurant is a superb experience. I highly recommend to anyone. We will be back. Great staff and service. See less

Worst tacos ever. No love put into it. Zambreros is 10 times better. What a disappointment. How do they stay open. Meat was tough. Barely any vegetables or lettuce. Guacamole was out of a can. Not even freshly made. Asked for jalapenos and limes in the tacos and burritos and got neither. Save your money and go someplace else See less

Let me tell a story about this place. When I went to the old branch in Salisbury, the food, the service was fantastic. I've never tasted anything like it before. Assuming the same I went to the same branch when they reopened in Unley. The alarm bells started ringing slowly when we went there at 8pm on a Sunday and it was dead quiet. We asked for sparkling wine from a young 18 year old and he served us warm, literally warm. that's when we realized this is more fishier than it looks. we ordered Elotes, Nachos and Chicken Fajitas. the Corn was good and succelent. But the Nachos was just smashed avo( which they termed Guacomole), sour cream and a toss of the Coles Frozen veggies tossed straight into the pan. The chicken in the Fajitas tasted like steamed chicken. There is something really fishy going on here at a deep level. Desperate times call for desperate measures but to put it down midly, it's a simple open and shut case. Just shut it and sort your issues out. See less

Food was incredible. If the service and atmosphere was brought up to the same standard it would be one of the best restaurants in town See less

Save your money and go to Zambreros instead. My burrito was stuffed with plastic cheese, extremely bland until I doused it in hot sauce. From reading the previous reviews and looking at their food photos I’m certain they’ve changed chefs and recipes. My friends tacos were piled to the roof with chopped onions, I never even seen that many onions at a sausage sizzle before. Anyone who thinks this is good Mexican food is dreaming. #BeatTheGrind See less

Delicious food, authentic cuisine, super friendly service. This place is really charming and lovely. We got 3 starters, 2 mains, and a dessert and everything was delicious. I would prefer if there were some background music, and I was sad that the cheese wasn't melted on the serve of nachos we got, but truly everything was absolutely delicious. I'll be back for sure! Food was good. Service was not so good. They seemed short handed as the 10 year old girls were helping mom out. So had to give a little bit of a pass. Had fajitas and a tamale, and they were pretty good. I am used to mexican in the U.S. It would be nice to get rice and beans with the main. I have tried mexican food here in Adelaide 3 times since getting here. This one was ties for 1st place so far. Flavors were very tasty, and I tried the mole sauce as well and was very good. Prices are pretty decent as well. 4 people 1 starter each a jarritos drink each, and a main, was 110 bucks. So pretty good value. See less

Taco Quetzalcoatls has grown a long way and their food is still exceptionally delicious! Enjoyed every bite of my meal after going back a handful of times with family and friends. I am looking forward to my next foodie adventure to Taco Quetzalcoatls See less

Excellent traditional style Mexican food here! Super tasty tacos, tostadas (really good pulled pork), empanadas, and tamales (first time trying this - delicious!). We really loved the enchiladas with mole sauce - so good!! The desserts were only ok - the caramel flan was mediocre but the condensed milk cake was really nice (if you like condensed milk 😜). By far the most authentic Mexican food I’ve eaten outside of Mexico! Had as takeaway during lockdown. Looking forward to dining in with friends once it reopens. See less

Was pretty excited to try the food out here, as I had first heard about this restaurant through a New York Times review. Sad to say I was extremely disappointed. The food lacked flavour & texture. So bland. Even Zambrero is better. I’m definitely not going to be going back here again. ☹️ See less

Worst Mexican experience ever. This location previously hosted Indo-Chinese restaurant and it failed miserably. We went for a dinner after reading rave reviews on New York Times about the original location at Salisbury. The menu is boring with just different varieties of tacos and cheese, cream and lettuce with meat filling. We ordered tacos as entree and its eye watering expensive even for Australian perspective of $7 per taco. Mains were just different version of fried tacos and for two persons without drinks costed us $60. This place is an abomination and they should go back to the drawing to come up with a different approach. See less

Pork taco was great. The chicken tostada with salas was tasty. The Mexican coke tastes like every over coke but is in a cool bottle. Enchiladas were average. See less
