Warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that is great for both lunch and dinner. Menu has all the favourites from Pad Thai to Red Curries, all with a selection of meat and vegetarian options, as well as level of chilli heat. There is a good drinks menu. Ice tea is great. Lunch specials menu offers good value options up to $20 and a good discount off the regular menu. Dishes are well balanced in flavour and presented well. Servings are of a good size - just right. Consistently good. There is parking is nearby though paid per hour. The restaurant has a good view over the lake and there are seating options outside during warmer, sunny days. Very bad experience with this restaurant. Short story - Liked the outside (lake) sitting of this place and thought of grabbing a drink. While entering into the restaurant i told them that we are just here for a drink or two. After ordering the drinks and waiting for 20 minutes, the FOH came and told us that they cant serve us drinks without ordering food. The FOH person was rude and arrogant. Never seen any restaurant dissing the customer like that. No customer service courtesy. I am not able to reply on the owner’s comment hence editing my review. I understand about the policies that you are highlighting. However, there were two employees standing at the front when we entered with the food. Why dint you guys stop us there itself? Instead of wasting our time and making us wait. On top of all this , the way the FOH spoke to me was utterly humiliating and rude. Kindly own up to the mistake and inconvenience you had caused us. I really don’t understand how you guys are running this place by being so arrogant and disrespectful to customers . Mistakes are bound to happen by everyone but the way you asked us to leave was not right. About the Food - it was wok it up sealed parcel that i told the employee i wont be eating or opening in the restaurant. Also a suggestion, Train your employees well instead of counter attacking the customers. Shameless!! See less

I live in Tasmania but whenever I’m in Canberra I always make sure I come to Thai Chiang rai and get their paat Thai it’s one of the best things I have ever eaten. The sizzling beef was tender and delicious, the red curry has the perfect amount of spice and the sauce for the satay skewers is amazing. The staff are friendly and the restaurant itself is nice and clean. Definitely recommend See less

From booking to paying an excellent expérience. Staff is polite, attentive, friendly. We had prawn twister and chicken springroll as entrees and it was fresh and crispy. One of the best spring roll I had with more mince then veggie. Then for mains we had chicken and prawn pad Thai and a chicken green curry. Both were amazing. We finished the green curry sauce with a spoon. Ambiance is relax and the noise level is very tamed. So a very positive experience and highly recommended. See less

We had a wonderful dinner here whilst getting to know the local area. Spring rolls were a classic entree and the Chef's Special crispy pork belly was outstanding! We also had a chicken in satay sauce for main which was excellent. Highly recommend for a great experience and delicious food. See less

Came here for Friday night dinner. The restaurant itself was somewhat casual looking and quite spacious. The food was decently priced and decent portion sizes. The flavours were standard but good, the Tom yum soup was a highlight. Overall would go again for causal dinner. See less

Thai Chiang Rai offers a delightful dining experience with generous portions and attentive service! Fresh, subtle and authentic Thai flavors shone in each dish and we loved the layers of chilli, ginger and lemongrass permeating each mouthful. The satay chicken was juicy and the peanut sauce surprisingly light. A highlight was the lemongrass beef which melted in our mouths. The coconut rice was also a star as were the Pad Thai noodles with chicken and prawns. We will definitely be back!! See less
