The owner was lovely and accommodating and the food was divine. Unfortunately there was some miscommunication with wait staff not knowing the difference between vegetarian and vegan, and a few mishaps from that miscommunication, but all was sorted professionally and swiftly. My partner had lamb shanks that literally slid off the bone and melted in his mouth. The pomegranate molasses was insanely tasty and complimented the pumpkin perfectly. I highly recommend having your next meal, whatever that may be, here at Banksia Tree Cafe. See less

Banksia Tree is one of my absolute favourite favourite cafes if I could write them higher than 5 stars I would. Special mention go out to big breakfasts and amazing Bloody Marys. Love the service, love the atmosphere, love the cleanliness, love the vegetarian and vegan options, love the sustainability vibe, definitely love the food and Beverages. Great food, good vibes, and excellent service. I flew in from interstate and popped in to grab a bite, and was very impressed with the fit-out and food. The staff were knowledgeable and had good energy and are very accomodating. Looking forward to my next visit and some good tucker! - Rick See less

Firstly, the Banksia Tree Cafe is really lovely to walk into. Local produce on display, gorgeous plants, well spaced out. The food is just as beautifully presented and tastes amazing! Their monastery coffee is sooo good as is their chai tea. The staff are super friendly and attentive as well. I really love it as a brunch place to go. See less

We visit the Banksia Tree fairly often, sometimes just for the best oat milk hot chocolates in town. The food is delicious, especially the hash browns and burgers. The staff are friendly and when we are sitting outside with our pup they always bring her a bowl of water. They have a dog menu, which we will try soon. See less

Fantastic food. Arguably the best scrambled eggs I've had in SA.. Great coffee, great vibe but above all that I have to commend our waitress Harper on her service and professionalism. Good hospitality is a dying art and having worked in the industry for 8 years I really appreciate amazing staff. The Banksia Tree have clearly taken the time to employ really excellent staff and it lifts an already good experience to a truly memorable one. Would absolutely come back. See less

Loved vibe, coffee and people. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Everything they do - they do with the smile. The menu looks really good and inviting. I loved the variety of hot drinks. House made matcha sounds pretty good to me. Coffee was nice and smooth to taste. The guys use local fresh ingredients for their simple but unique menu. Excited for coming back to try more 💫🌷 See less

Had some time to venture out today… Decided to pop into The Banksia Tree Cafe for some brunch ☺️ Service started out a bit unwelcoming at first, but it smoothed out during the duration of our visit and we left full and happy! __________________________________ EDIT - Response to owner’s comment We appreciate you being able to eventually accomodate us however… I did try to call and make a booking today and was specifically told that you didn’t take bookings only walk-ins (it wasn’t clarified till later when we got there that you don’t take on-the-day bookings). When I called at 10:30, I asked if there would be any tables at 12. The reply I received was “yeah we are busy now, it should be good by then”. It wasn’t good when we got there at 12 (understandably this is out of your control, but the events that follow were not). The waitress left us outside in the rain with a toddler as she proceeded to promptly move 2 other tables inside (and we were certain that we were there before 1 of them). To top it off, the waitress didn’t offer us a table inside, we had to ask! Even then, she said, "oh if I can’t get you a table, inside, do you want takeaway instead" dismissively. Hope you treat the next customer a bit more kindly. See less

Quite literally the best tasting breakfast I've ever eaten at a cafe! I had the bacon and poached eggs with added kransky and ommmggg this was the perfect blend of smokey fresh flavours. The dirty chai was amazing too. Brilliant taste and presentation. Will definitely be back again. See less

Fantastic cafe in the Port with great service amazing food and coffee. Boast a Wood fired grill and the best house made hash browns. Pictured is the egg and bacon roll with Hash browns and the French Toast! Get down the Port and try this place if haven’t already! ! See less
