Had heard a fair bit about this place through several reviews and so decided to check it out while waiting for my car to be repaired down the road. The cafe is quite spacious with outside seating as well. Not many tables seemed to be occupied when I approached the front counter to pick up a menu. You need to place your order at the front counter and pay in advance. I decided to grab a table and go through the menu. When I went to the counter to place my order, it was like the hordes were let in! Suddenly, the place was busy! On returning to my table, I found an old bloke had commandeered it while his old lady was waiting in the queue. He wandered off to another table and there was a short wait before my breakfast order was brought out (Baked eggs @$18). When placing my order with the nice, friendly young lady at the counter I requested that my coffee was served after I had finished eating. The food wasn't very impressive but after I had finished with it the young lady who had taken my order came over to check if she could bring me my coffee. The coffee is definitely very good and one of the better one's I've had. The cafe gets extremely busy with a lot of people coming in to get their takeaway coffee orders and they all mass by the side of the counter next to the door leading to the toilets or sit at a large bench on the side. The place seems very popular with the locals and can be a bit noisy as there's music playing in the background as well. So, the phone calls that I was hoping to get out of the way couldn't be made. The location of the cafe is ideal and is a place to be recommended if you are looking for a nice cup of coffee. Have been going to the coffee barun for years and every single time have ordered the smashed avo. Went today and they have removed smashed avo from the menu…. Terrible move for a cafe. My friends and I walked out without ordering and will not be back unfortunately, shame because I loved the staff and atmosphere. See less

Great meal and massive was not expecting as much food as I got. We got there early before 9:30 when it really started to get busy. it was a bit confusing when we first walked in on where we where supposed to go and if it was seat yourself or wait and see but not hard to figure out. I also wasn't a fan of the mushrooms that came with my breakfast I am sure some would enjoy them but they where just a bit to heavily seasoned for my tastes. Still the soudough was great the eggs perfectly cooked and the bacon plentiful and tasty. They where also very happy to substitute out the tomato with spinach which is always a plus in my book. Definately worth a visit especially if you have someone you want to impress over breakfast. See less

Coffee was heavenly. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Ordered two items for breakfast and was unable to finish due to the size of the plates. Food was exquisite however and if I had eyes bigger than I would have cleaned off both plates. For the size of the plates, well worth what you paid for it. Was sharing with my wife and could have easily had one dish instead but glad I got to try two different items off the menu. Definitely will come back in the future. Location is probably the only hard part as it is off the main road without a lot of parking available. Certainly a place to go when not working. See less

The big breakfast was a full nice tasting meal. A little bit extra salty for my taste, but nice overall. The coffee was good in size and strong in taste. The avocado smash tasted great, albeit with just too much rocket. The ambience is nice and the staff are friendly. Recommended for brunch or coffee. See less

Very friendly efficient service and lovely atmosphere. Cakes and sweets looked delicious but my bacon and egg roll was extremely underwhelming and dry. The tiniest dry piece of bacon, (embarrassing) and an overcooked egg. Disappointing. Sorry. Doesn't measure up to other cafe's 😔 See less

Benchmark coffee. Consistently superb. Great range of non milk options and some different origin coffees to try, even coffee tastings! Casual vibe with efficient & friendly (well trained) staff. Good food with GF & vege & vegan options. Often very busy late breakfast through to lunch. Update Nov 21: still great, always a pleasure to stop at the Barun! See less

I used to get coffee every week from Barun until moving to a different suburb. I’d also always meet people for breakfast, brunch and lunch there. Having not been there for a few years and hearing that it’s not as good as it used to be, I decided to check it out for myself again. Unfortunately the feedback was correct. The staff are still very friendly and the coffee is great but the food options, quality and taste has definitely declined. It’s a bit disappointing, but I now know for only coffee purchases it’s still the place to go, but there are now much better food options around. See less

Nice cozy artsy vibe with some rustic decor. The haloumi burger was delicious paired with roasted pumpkin and housemade fries. The specials French toast was interesting, more towards sour than sweet, had a refreshing kick to it. See less

I found this place by chance, and loved it immediately. Customer service was great, food was amazing, and the coffee was fantastic. It is decorated very well, and is such a cute little coffee shop. I will definitely be back here. I also highly recommend their burger! See less
