Long established Italian joint in south Melbourne area. We tried ordered couple of pastas and the veal Schnitzel. Pasta are Al dente and the sauce seasoned nicely although a little too wet to our liking. Schnitzel was thin, crispy, juicy and have a nice accompanying sauce. Had a early dinner with friends and my 2 year old. Loved the original decor and exposed brick, feels very authentic! They provided a high chair for my daughter and staff were very attentive with service/topping up drinks. We had a selection of garlic breads, bruschetta and the calamari to begin, followed by pasta and the lamb shanks. All cooked very well and the portions were generous size. Looking forward to trying the desserts next time around. See less

Very good food and big meals. Weird decor and wall furnishings and chairs/ seating uncomfortable. I like to be comfortable when I eat. Otherwise, I'd recommend trying it for the food which is the most important part. See less

Went with my partner after hearing great things about this restaurant. My experience was complete opposite. The female waitress that served us was completely rude and provided poor service. I felt discriminated against and felt we were treated differently than other patrons. They made no effort to underline the bad service we received. The food was good , I can give them that but unfortunately the service was bad. I hope no one experience what me and my partner went through that evening. See less

We regularly dine here and usually get takeaway as well. We have been going here since the late 1970’s! It never ceases to impress and often exceeds our expectations. The owners are so friendly and down to earth, and the staff friendly as well as knowledgeable and helpful. Probably the best steaks in Melbourne but many other excellent dishes. Numerous delicious entrees and deserts. And I must add that they have a wide range of great cocktails. You will not be disappointed - highly recommended ✅👍 See less

The food tastes very Italian (as in: authentic) and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the produce they serve. We thought service was a bit slow though, but then again: most people didn't seem to be bothered by that and maybe we were in too much of a rush. See less

Such a pity what this virus has done to the hospitality industry, it was not busy like they use to be it but as always the food and service were fantastic, the staff are always humble and kind. Was highly spoken about but didn't live up to reputation. Service was pleasant but meals took a long time coming. My med/rare $48 Wagyu came out med/ well done. Sent it back and the same steak came back. Was sent back again and came back almost blue. My partner's venison was rather dry so we shared my steak. Our guests steak was good. The method of cooking was good however the chef's timing was out. The Caesar salad was however very good. Appreciate they deducted my steak off the bill but it was a disappointing night. Seems to be a local favourite. See less
