I knew I wanted to visit this restaurant when I saw the rating of 4.9. My husband and I are travelling from Sydney and love Indian food however our meal in this restaurant was next level. We had the chicken biryani which was the most delicious biryani we’ve ever tasted, The goat curry was a 10/10 And the naans were amazing. The presentation of the food was beautiful and also a 10/10 Not to mention the service we got was a 10/10 Thank you for the beautiful experience, we will see you again soon. See less

I’m yet to actually go into the restaurant - only had by Uber eats! But even then the food is always amazing. Great quality, super tasty, good pricing. Best butter chicken I’ve ever had! Can’t wait for an opportunity to visit in person :) See less

If you’re after fragrant Indian cuisine that packs a powerful punch in the ACT, look no further than The Poet. The food is so obviously cooked with care. Entrees and main meals are fresh and full of flavour - on the particular night we visited, we tried the samosas, and I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of eating a crispier one in my life (nor a spicier one!) As a local to the area, I feel very lucky to have such delicious food so close by. See less

We loved this place! We shared the vegetable platter and the tandoori platter...both were delicious. The food was fresh and cooked and served with care and attention to detail. The service was fabulous - welcoming and friendly. On top of that, the price of meals is great value for money. See less

Recently on one of my friend's recommendation I went to this "The Poet" restaurant which is recently opened up in Belconnen, Canberra. Name of the restaurant really created some curiosity in my mind. Quite unique name and I was keen to explore the menu.. In frame: Tandoori Jhinga (prawns), Chicken Crisps..it was full of flavours and outstanding 👌 plus in mains we ordered High Way Chicken Curry and Chicken Kurchan, along with Cheese Naan & Garlic Naan with some Saffron rice. Omgggg I loved the Highway Chicken it was marvellous 😋 it's rustic flavour was so different from regular curries. A must try from this place.. Finally concluded the dinner with yummy Gulab Jamun (sweet dumplings) and Gajar ka Halva (carrot pudding). Ambience was pretty cool with Bollywood music in the background. I found entire team very humble and customer friendly. Who were constantly engaging with the guests. Overall, a fantastic Friday Evening I had. What a gem! To be honest, I'm not usually a fan of Indian food as I tend to find it quite heavy. I decided to stop by as this place doesn't look like a traditional Indian restaurant and decided to give it a go. And I was impressed! I ordered a few random things from the menu ... and everything was absolutely fresh, light and delicious! I had these amazing looking vegetarian 'Dahi Puri' balls, bursting with minty creamy cardamomy flavours and a tandoor mixed grill - in particular the chicken was so tender and full of flavour! The prices are very fair (I got away with just over $30 for my order) and the staff were lovely and attentive. It's in a location a bit off the usual track on Chandler St in the Altitude building so I sincerely hope the word will get around and this place is here to stay. See less

Stumbled upon this place on an evening walk and decided to go in for a meal with my partner. I ordered a full tandoori chicken, butter chicken, paneer 65 and garlic naan. The tandoori chicken was easily one of the best I've had. Ever. Hands down. My partner really enjoyed it and said it was one of the juiciest and tender chicken she's had. 10/10 The butter chicken was super rich and you can taste the homemade sauce with the intense tomato flavour. The garlic naan was also great. Crispy, light, hot. 9/10 The paneer was unique. Light. Fluffy easy to eat. The owner said they are trying their own unique twist to it. My girlfriend liked it a lot. I am a fan of the original crispy batter so this wasn't for me. I still enjoyed the flavour though. 7/10 We were the only ones in the restaurant as it is brand new and I definitely recommend others to try it out. I will definitely be coming back for more especially when they are ready with their breakfast menu. 5 stars! Hope they can keep up the consistency when it gets busy. Owners are friendly and will explain their ideas behind the food if you ask! See less

Best Indian I've had in the ACT! We were a mixed table of experienced sub-continent diners and only-ever-had-butter-chicken diners, and there was truly something for everyone. Super affordable, generous serves, specialty dishes I haven't seen elsewhere in Canberra, and tasty like I couldn't believe. Also? Wonderful service. Can't believe they've only just opened. Will definitely be back regularly, and take the chef's suggestions. See less

Amazing chicken pakora! Curries and naans were pretty good too... big portions and tasty. Restaurant had only been open for a few days and the service was prompt and friendly. Will be back soon 😊 See less

Delicious and authentic food, the chef was so polite and came to ask if my food was too spicy or not spicy enough, so lovely. He even gave our table some complimentary appalam. The decor was also so pretty. Chaat was also so fresh! See less
