Tucked away down an arcade, Volstead is a classy hidden gem. Choose from a great range of whiskies, or enjoy something from the carefully curated cocktail and wine menu. A limited range of delicious food aimed at sharing means you can stay and relax all evening. The decor is elegant, the music is on theme and enjoyable, and the staff offer polished, professional service. We booked a table tonight, and enjoyed a vegan margarita pizza with whisky and cocktails for very reasonable prices, and will be visiting again. See less

Classy establishment with arguably Canberra's finest selection of Whiskey (and whisky) and cocktails specially tailored to the season. Stu and Gus were stand out barmen (knowledgeable and friendly) when we visited Volstead. Pizza was delicious and very quick to hit the table after ordering. I love that Volstead is nestled away from the busy streets of Braddon, and it was if I had walked into a classy New York cocktail bar. Thanks guys, can't wait to come back! See less

Quite a nice bar. It has a rich classy feel, and avoids being dark and dim like some others going for the same vibe. They are unashamedly whiskey focused – there cannot be many collections to match theirs in Australia – but they would never be short of a good rum or gin either. The staff really know their cocktails, which makes the experience. They do all the classics well, but do not seem afraid to try new things. They do have mocktails too, but you have to ask. See less

Lovely atmosphere, massive selection of drinks and very knowledgeable staff. I felt very welcome as soon as I walked in the door, and the delicious pizzas were an added bonus. Can't wait to come back!! See less

Nice bar tucked away a stone's throw from the bustle of Lonsdale St. I really enjoyed the huge selection of whisky, and the bartenders were pretty helpful in pointing out some whiskies for us to try that were in line with our tastes. The selection of whisky at least rivals that of Hippo in the city. Like Hippo, its not a big bar and I can see it getting pretty busy as it gets more attention, so suggest booking a table in advance if you can. Hopefully they also start to host some whisky tasting nights or offer a selection of whisky tasters on the menu (they might do this already but I didn't see it). But I'll definitely be coming back anyway. See less
