At the cafe today (22/05/21) and left some feedback! “When talking about your customers make sure they can’t hear you”! THE BACK STORY 👇🏼 1 cajun burger arrived at our table, as it was placed on our table the server confirms, “1 Cajun Burger”? I respond, “ Er 3, there’s 3 of us (we all had a chuckle) yeah I ordered three”! After a few minutes he was just about to return to our table, however, he didn’t have to cause I hearer every word of the conversation he was having with someone at the register about our missing burgers?!?! So before he had a chance to return to our table to inform me that, I needed to pay for another two, cause only one burger was recorded in the system, I was already on my way to the counter (cause I could hear every word they exchanged about the situation) I paid for another two, the staff member who had taken my previous order apologised, saying that she had made an error despite the fact that I gave a visual cue ( 3 Cajun Burgers) of raising three fingers when giving my order. And I was fine, especially when she apologised for misunderstanding me, and that’s where I thought it would end, all good! However, as our meals made it to the counter, one particular team member couldn’t help herself but to express herself (this when I was looking right at her, her vocal projection was enough for every one of her words to arrive as far as our table from the counter!!!!! As she placed the two burgers on the counter for staff to deliver to our table she had herself a little purge, “ Well, it’s their fault blah blah ……… look at him, he looks angry “! Actually, I wasn’t angry, I was hungry, at least right up until she felt it was perfectly fine for to share her judgement After completing our meals and made a way past the same counter I stopped and engaged the 4 or 5 staff chill’n at that very same counter (service counter). I looked at them all and asked if I could leave some feedback? “Yeah sure”, said the one young guy as he expressed his apologies for the misunderstanding that had accrued earlier with the absence of 2 burgers! (Side note) As I have grown up in a family business cafe / restaurant environment for more than 30 years, I believe I qualify to share my observations! In any case, He responded, “yeah sure”! and I processed to added, ”ok so, if staff are gonna talk about their customers, make sure that your customers can’t hear you, yeah”! I asked him if he knew what I was referring to, due to the fact that this particular team member was directing her views about me to him and another team member! He and the other staff looked back at me, awkwardly …. as if bewildered, as if thinking, “oh sh&@“! I added,” now, you know what I’m talking about, yeah? Your blonde friend over their behind the counter, that one, who felt is was ok to express how the error, earlier on, with our order was ‘MY FAULT’ and then she looked straight at me while I was looking straight back at her, saying “Look at him, look how angry he looks”! You know what I’m talking about right”? The young guy could barely look at me, “Yeah”, he replied! I let him know that he wasn’t at fault but that if he could pass my feedback on, that’d be great“! So ….. The 1 star ⭐️ is a result of 1 individual team member letting the rest down with her inappropriate commentary of a situation that was easily corrected! Get into the practice of repeating the order back to customers, especially when customers feel confident enough that they’ve gone to all length to ensure the order has been communicated satisfactorily and put into the system! I’ve never had any concern to listen out for how much my order is going to cost to determine if my order is correctly recorded, that the operators role, not mine ……I order my food and beverages and I swipe my card to make my payment …. no fuss, easy! Over all (our 3rd visit to this cafe as we live inly 6 minutes away in The Gap) our experience on this occasion was disappointing because of one ☝🏼 individual, who couldn’t put a cap on her ego! Our order got lost. As someone who works in hospitality I can understand mistakes being made. However, when we asked about what happened to our order there was no apology. We got our drinks, and then our food got forgotten AGAIN! We had to wait an hour and a half for our food. Thankfully did get a refund for the meal, however still extremely disappointed in the whole experience. See less

A great find which is so hidden and out of the way that it has taken years to finally persist and find. Great outlook over sports field. Happy staff, good service and sunny tea set. Tea had very nice, smooth taste but needed to remove leaves before getting too strong. Breakfast was good. Poached eggs could be softer and sourdough smaller but that’s being fussy. Recommended. Will return. See less

Outdoor under umbrellas, dogs welcome, lovely breezes. Menu items are well priced and there is a reasonable selection. Staff were friendly and accommodating (I got a lunch item for brunch, so a bit early!). Coffee /cake deals are an option. Definitely visiting again. I could not find the street on my gps but it is on Google Maps, so check your route before leaving. See less

Great location to pop in for lunch after morning hiking. Mango frappe was overpriced as it tasted more like mango water. Chips had way too much salt so I was struggled to finish it. There’s a reason why salt n pepper bottles are served on the dining table - just so customers get to decide how salty they want their food to be... But I must recommend Walton’s burger, juicy Wagyu beef patty and fried egg are such a great match. See less
