Stay two days in Canberra, Wild Duck is definitely the best we had here! Very good service and food! Highly recommend the peppercorn Angus Cubes, juicy and tender with full flavours! See less

Below average taste, above average price, not worth it. Most dishes miss the point, for the pork belly, its sticky rice is better than pork. Crisp duck only taste crisp, there's no flavour for the duck and too much batter. See less

If you are looking for fine Chinese dining then this is certainly a place to consider. The food is delicious though expensive to match. We had the wild mushroom and duck dish as our main which received all-around high praise, with an éntree of Peking duck and Wagyu beef dumplings (of which the dumplings are a must try). The service was friendly and quick with a formal and atmospheric environment to be served in. I must mention that the restaurant does not boast views of the water if that is something your looking for. In conclusion a lovely restaurant with delicious Chinese cuisine for those willing to pay a bit more for it. See less

I didnt know what to expect going to this restaurant. To me, Chinese food is normally an assault on the senses, enough so to have large amount of it and not think about the complexity or refined flavours. This restaurant hits the mark on refined delicate dishes with some old favourites done really well. The restaurant is not huge so the service is impeccable. The portions are that of a fine dining restaurant with elevated ingredients to please the palette. I will be back again! See less

Really enjoyable food and drinks, attentive service, great setting. Pleasantly atmospheric and yet not too noisy, so conversation is very comfortable. Duck was great, my ocean trout was superbly lightly fried and the special desert of the day (picture enclosed) was both beautifully constructed and delicious. One of my new favourites. See less

I came in with high expectations because I looked at the menu prior and everything seemed unique, but ultimately was quite disappointed (maybe I just chose the wrong dishes?). The lamb shanks and duck we ordered was deep fried (unexpectedly). The flavours were awesome and the lamb would've been perfect if it had more sauces as it was dry (the splash of mayo did nothing) and the crispy duck batter was not enjoyable, we ended up taking off the batter and the duck portion was tiny without the batter 😅. The balmain bug dumplings were okay, I liked the vinegar sauce it went well with the saltiness of the dumpling. For the quality and portions sizes it was not worth the pricey bill imo, we had just eaten at the boathouse the night before so that's what I'm comparing this to. The waitress was lovely though and very attentive, decor was pleasant. See less

Top culinary experience with midrange price tag. No nonsense, good quality ingredients and enough food to feel full without being bloated or MSG-ed to death. Will dine there again, that's for sure See less

I wish I could give Wild Duck more stars! The service is exceptional, the food is delicious, the presentation is gorgeous, the decor is beautiful. We had the Chefs Special Banquet for four people and it was just enough, the Angus Beef cube was so tender, the Salmon and Nashi Pear was a fantastic pairing, the vegetables fresh, the duck was so yummy. I can't praise them enough, thank you! See less

We took the wild meal banquet and couldnt be happier! The duck is well seasoned and not bad. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the squid and took mine! The dumplings for me are the winner as they are perfect with the dips. The mains are pretty good with a balance of pork, seafood and veggies. The creme brulee is just good and no complaints and the banana is well caramelised. Would come back again! See less

Have been here a few times now and the food and service cannot be faulted. The duck pancakes, squid, pepper Wagyu squares and mushroom duck are the picks. Haven't had room for dessert yet, but it looks amazing too! See less

The Wild Duck degustation banquet is worth every dollar. The chef takes you on a journey of his signature dishes and it does not disappoint. Each dish had its own unique flavour and really demonstrated the variety Asian cuisine can offer. The wine pairing was good, but spaced in an interesting way. If you know what wines you would like to pair with your favourite dishes on the menu I would suggest ordering them before each dish separately. See less

Pretty average 'fancy' Chinese food more geared towards western tastes. The signature chefs menu was a little pricey for the food that came out, and wait times were quite extended. A few dishes that fell flat was the king prawn which came out over cooked for me with a strong fishy smell, which led me to believe it's not very fresh and the fried fish dish. The Peking duck pancakes were also ok, more meat on it than usual which may be geared towards western expectations. The curry was overly sweet with too much coconut milk being used. High light of the menu was the kung Pao chicken which was beautifully spiced and cooked. Overall it was an ok experience but you may find better value elsewhere. See less

Atmosphere and service is definitely good. However the food was super disappointing. The wagyu beef dumplings tasted like normal beef dumplings you can buy from super market. Portions were also tiny for $16+. The crispy xiang su duck was certainly crispy, but the meat was pretty dry, even with the sauce. The lamb shank was served lukewarm and was super salty. The saving grace for this dish was the bak choy, which were juicy and flavoursome, and was the only part of the meal that tasted "asian". The eggplant had too much vinegar, and it was hard to stomach. The mi-goreng at the bottom seemed like an afterthought to make the dish more "asian", rather than adding an extra dimension to the taste. Food was expensive for the quality that was served. TL, DR don't go here if you're looking to eat "fine asian" food. See less
