Upon the recommendation of a Cairns local foodie, I took my family to Wrasse and Roe at Port Douglas. After some excellent cocktails, we had two amazing Chilli and Black Pepper Mud Crabs. Absolutely as good as you get in Singapore. Amazing freshness and flavour. The service was attentive and I was drooling over the laksa flavoured Moreton bag bugs at the next table. I highly recommend this place if you want quality, flavoursome seafood. See less

The food was amazing!!!! Probably one of the best meals we've had in a very long time....one issue though I had the seafood pasta and one of the mussels was clearly off and tasted/smelled rancid. We told the waiter who in turn told the kitchen but we never received an acknowledgement, apology or even just an offer of a free drink or something. Also, when we purchased some drinks there the night prior we were told to pay at the bar as we weren't dining there. We went to the bar to pay but the lady manning the bar abruptly told us that she couldn't accept payment and stared at us blankly....it took for the owner to interject (or I believe she was the owner) who said not to worry, she'd bring our drinks over and sort it out. Very happy with our choice to eat at Wrasse &Roe. We had the eye fillet steak with spinach puree and spiced beetroot with sides of rocket salad and thick fries. The steak was done to perfection and the flavours and textures were beautiful. We couldn't fault the service either. See less

My wife & I love seafood & looked/asked around about a good restaurant. My wife was taking me out for my 70th birthday so to her a good restaurant was important. We had 3 courses. My steak was cooked to perfection & exactly what I’d expect from a high end restaurant in Sydney or Melbourne. My wife enjoyed her seafood dinner immensely. I note other reviews mentioned wait time between meals & we did have to wait a little longer than usual too, but management have been advertising in National newspapers looking for staff. It’s also not hard to miss the Qld Government offering incentives to attract hospitality workers to North Queensland. So all things considered everyone at Wrasse & Roe worked hard, provided good food, service, professionalism & quick whit 😂. Lovely people. We highly recommend the experience See less

My partner and I had quite a nice meal here together. Overall the meal was fantastic, we had the rib eye and the marina and a few entrees. All was delicious. My only complaint is the pricing and the table service was below an expected level. See less

Was excited to eat here when I heard this place had opened just recently. Was expecting great things. Unfortunately it was far from good. Very long wait time for a restaurant that didn't have that many people seated. A couple that were seated at the table next to us left due to waiting for so long. Oysters were very small and the Calamari was far from fresh. The restaurant itself looks very nice but the service, food and pricing I would give a 0 star if i could. See less

We ordered the below what Wrasse & Roe call a hot and cold seafood platter for $175. Yes you read that correctly $175. If there was a decimal point between the 7 and the 5 that would make much more sense when looking at the photo. I thought I will break it down so people get a good idea of what to potentially expect. And I am being 100% honest and fair. Firstly the mains took 1 hour 20 minutes to come. The Oysters were the size of peas. The smoked salmon I'm convinced is the smoked salmon you buy in the sealed packet at Woolies for $7. The soft shell crab tasted like 98% oil and 2% Crab . The Scallops, well pretty much imagine putting a rubber o ring in your mouth and chewing it. You'll have the exact same experience when eating these scallops. My partner and I couldn't eat the rest. The setting was very confusing of what sort of dining experience this company was trying to achieve. But it's very clear to see that Wrasse and Roe are attempting to come across as a high end Seafood Restaurant that charges high end prices but the quality of the seafood is exactly the same as the quality of the seafood you would get from your local pub that specializes in steak. The cooks/workers look like local over worked foreign backpackers with a white chefs hat on. The owner/owners of this restaurant should be embarrassed, but going by the way they are cheekily masking themselves as a top tier seafood restaurant to make a high profit it wouldn't surprise me that they would care about taking peoples money. Overpriced and average! Paid $50 for mains and $25 for starters. Flavours were good, but not worth the price. Highly was the dessert (accurately priced at $16), and the teenage boy waiter who made sure our water was always filled up! All other waitstaff would walk past our table even when empty dishes/glasses/a dirty table was there for even before the new dishes came out etc. Waited a long time for the bill and ended up having to go up to the counter, where there were then wrong things on it. Overall, not the worst experience — but very far from a great one. See less

My family ate here during the week and sat inside. We had booked an outside table as a family member has hearing issues and wears a cochlea implant so we were worried about noise. On arrival- we were placed on an inside table and when asked to be outside told no. We found the restaurant unbearably noisy and no table conversation was possible Two cocktails were ordered from their menu - both undrinkable. Wine delivered in a bucket with no ice. Food less than acceptable and not as described and several sides ordered did not even arrive. We pointed this out to the waiter but to no avail. On leaving and paying the bill we mentioned the sides did not arrive and asked for then to be taken from the bill (which was over $450 and the sides came to $12). The owner said he would have to check with the kitchen if they had been sent out and left us standing there while he double checked with several staff if what we said was true. He soon found out it was. Just insulting..... NEVER EATING THERE AGAIN See less

My partner and I ate dinner here last Friday night as it had only opened last week. As we are not seafood eaters we both ordered steak. It was the best steak we had ever eaten. The salad was a modern twist on a Waldorf salad which was also lovely. Desserts consisted of coconut pannacotta and the passion fruit parfait. Delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant as the service was great and not over the top. See less
