I love Yowei. I've had everything on the menu at one point or another and would recommend any of them. The only down side is they aren't open every day, but that's probably a good thing or I'd prefer it to often. I particularly appreciate that they use sustainable packaging where they can. From what I've experienced only the salad dressing, extra sauce, and the lid for the bowl are plastic. Every other container is a kind of cardboard. Although their meals are simply they're consistent and always tasty. Yowei is one of my comfort foods, if I'm being honest. See less

My partner took me here last week and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Great flavours, generous portions and affordable prices. Sometimes I get annoyed when the curry to rice ratio is off, but at Yowei, you won’t have to worry about that. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Definitely a hidden gem! Really great food. Had to take one star off because I asked for the curry to be in a separate container but they did not honour the request. I can't finish the food in one seating usually, so if the rice sits in the curry it'll turn into curry soaked rice and it tastes meh. Other than this, can't really fault them. My vegetarian boyfriend is really jealous because the curry smells nice, so hopefully they would consider making curry tofu in the future. See less

Wasn't sure if I was heading to right location initially but they're located right outside on the side of the street. Really yummy and freshly prepared food. Had to rush off to see a client in the area and they were kind enough to prepare everything ASAP. Lovely people to chat with as well. Definitely recommend the Chicken Katsu Curry and the Pork Katsu - both were fantastic! See less

Had a great chat while cooking our dinner, which tasted awesome. Recommend to try at least once for a great tasting meal. The chicken snitchels are the best as they are not "processed chicken meat" actual breaded chicken fillets! See less

The Fried Chicken with Curry Rice was overall delicious, but the fried chicken itself contained a bit of gristle. For most people that is not an issue, but after sampling quite a few Japanese Restaurants of various price ranges and I must say that the fried chicken here was not as good as some of the cheaper stores. That said, I am overall very happy with what I got. The curry sauce was nice and the rice and vegetables were absolutely perfect. I was also confused at the lack of picked ginger, but that might just be how they do things here. I am looking forward to trying more dishes, hopefully I'll have purely positive thoughts to share.
