Had a great date night experience! We ordered the 59PP Feed Me menu, 100% satisfied both for the taste and the service. See less

Zaab is a trendy restaurant along Lonsdale street across the street from the Civic Pub. Lots of young good looking couples so popular with 20-30s. They serve Southeast Asian fusion dishes, wild cocktails served in plastic bags, and good “small bites”. Staff was friendly and quick. I tried the Beef Massamun which is beef cheeks, mild curry, sweet potato chips, over a potato mash which was good but not a huge portion. For small stuff I tried pork larb bites. Fun restaurant but portions were small considering the price . See less

Went here after being denied for dinner at another place and she allowed us in even though the kitchen closed and she opened it for us. Lovely woman with incredible customer service, a really friendly face, good to talk to. Food was great and cocktails were incredible. I'd definitely go again. See less

We had a booking for 8pm and felt very rushed the whole time we were there. The kitchen closed for orders at around 9 so we were forced to decide if we wanted dessert mid meal. Good food but the service let it down. . See less

Fantastic Lao/Thai Canberra venue. Visiting Zaab after a long absence confirmed that it remains one of the best eateries in Braddon's bustling Lonsdale Street. Every single dish served was fresh, flavourful and playfully original. The betel leaf starter is playful, the ceviche was fresh, the barramundi had the right spiciness to accentuate the barramundi without overpowering it. To top it off, the cocktails were fabulous and the wait staff were outstanding in their friendliness and professionalism. A must go Canberra venue. See less

Funky modern restaurant, love the decor and vibes here. Food was delicious. Came here with kids and the staff were able to accomodate them for certain items ie remove the chilli or add to the side only. Not too many options for those who do not like spice like young kids. All the chicken dishes were a hit with the kids, even the fried one which was only little bit spicy/peppery. See less

Had a fantastic night out with bestie. Great mocktail and lychee cocktail. The food we ordered is like fusion Asian food with a crunchy taste. In terms of the size, it’s pretty small if you are expecting something worth $30-40 a dish. See less

Not sure what restaurant some of the most recent reviewers visited - I had the set menu and we couldn't finish it! The food was tasty and interesting (although the small eats and bites look more interesting than the massamun provided in the banquet, which was a little underwhelming). Biggest issue though is the 1.5 hour seating limit. We were hurried out having barely finished our mains. Only two waitresses the night we were there couldn't keep up with drinks orders (lost of one mine) and that's a shame; staying for an extra half an hour I would have loved to be able to enjoy another cocktail. Just came to Canberra and I was looking for Thai food, I see Zaab is having the highest review with a large number of reviewers, that's why I trusted and decided to visit Zaab at least ONCE. However, I don't think so the price of this place is worth it. Not sure why it's always full booked but once I came there, I never want to come back. The food is good but very very small portion, I have tried different Thai restaurants but this is the first one I got too much disappointed. I saw on the take-away menu they have Pad Thai (that's what I was going for), but when you came there, the menu is like "not even a single Thai food", the taste is totally different. They are selling kinds of "big" stuffs and small stuffs. If you don't trust me, you can try there "big" stuff and see is it really "BIG" as it mentioned in the menu. Not even haft chicken you can get, only some small pieces of chicken and beef. Unbelievable! Maybe, they focus more on drinks and alcohol, but if you want to drink and chill, you better go to other bigger places with some atmosphere rather than this small area shop to get your pocket ripped. Highly not recommended! See less

Like most places Zaab has had to adapt to survive, and they're now investing heavily in the set menu, and cutting back on the choices on the a la carte menu. This means a few of our much-loved dishes appear to have gone, but the reward is an excellent value collection of dishes for either $59, or $79 (the latter including cocktail). The $59 contains just about everything we'd choose anyway, such as the superb Betel Leaf, Chicken Satay, Charcoal Chicken and Beef Massamun. They have a separate vegan menu, and have no problems switching out items for dietary requirements like gluten free (which, in our case, meant we got the Lao Sausage instead of the Grilled Pork, which we preferred). This place is packed, so, there's not much social distancing going on, and turnover is fast, so they feed you quickly. But the food is superb, service excellent, and its great value for the quality. Delicious modern Thai food in a beautiful moody restaurant. The food was unexpectedly packed with flavour - delicious! The portion sizes are small but nothing out of the norm for Braddon restaurants. Great cocktail list. I would definitely come back here. See less
